In all fairness, I play D&D, too. And our version of LARPing is more like, "Hit each other with foam swords" than actual roleplaying. Basically, it's sparring with structure.

Braiding my hair like Legolas a few years back is pretty high on the list.

The discussion about how Spyro the Dragon, with his six appendages, fits into modern concepts of evoloution is up there too.

Dressing up to go to renaissance faires, yeah, that's there too.

Setting up action figures on my desk to create a scene from an awesome Jack Sparrow/ Legolas/ Samurai Champloo Jin/ Plastic ninja/ plastic monkey in a fez battle and occasionally changing them around every month or so to create new conflicts. I only feel some shame in the respect that I have a Legolas action figure. I REGRET NOTHING ELSE!!

So far, Shrek's Dragon and Kingdom Hearts Donald have yet to be involved in said battle. They're safe on top of my TV.

I only just now realized that I have more bizarre action figures than I thought. Is that weird? Nah.

If it WAS nein, that's German. So either your teach heard it somewhere, and he/she thought it was cool.

OR the teach IS German! O=

Also, about the Star Trek...
Could it, perhaps, be that the Deep Space Nine series and Voyager series ran either simultaniously, concerning timeline, or Voyager is supposed to be earlier in that same timeline?

Just another theory... I don't know, I didn't watch DS9, and thus I couldn't compare (star) dates, even IF I payed attention to that.

Well, time before the time before last I visited BMG! I borrowed $20 to buy FF1 for the NES.

I still haven't paid her back.

Played RaiRO regularly for several months.

I mean shit I live in California now, it's actually nice outside. There's just no excuse at all.

I hadn't thought of that, though that does offer a good point of reference as the stardates are actually based on the season in which the episode aired (a trend started right off the bat in TNG, with the first season's stardates beginning with the numbers 41, season two stardates beginning with 42, and so on).

Incidentally, the stardate for the episode in which the Dominion was formally introduced, "The Jem'Hadar", was not given, but the previous episode places those events shortly after stardate 47944. Both these episodes aired in July 1994, but the stardate places them concurrent to the final two episodes of TNG, which aired two months earlier. This does present a precedent for discrepancy between the events in the diverent shows and their real time airing.

This theory is again bolstered by the fact that Voyager's series premier, which aired in January 1995, gives the stardate as 48315, which places it shortly after the sixth episode of DS9's third season, which aired in October 1994. The span of time between the destruction of the Odyssey and the launch of Voyager is much shorter than it appeared to the viewer. Since there was not much to know about the Dominion, there was no point in making a note of it in the Doctor's program. Chakotay and B'Elanna would have been quite blissfully unaware of the Dominion's existence due to their removal from much of the Federation news grapevine, and most Starfleet officers outside of Sisko's senior staff wouldn't have known anything more about the whole thing other than some aliens blew up a Galaxy-class starship out in the Gamma Quadrant.

It is interesting to note that, chronologically, the DS9 episode that took place immediately prior to Voyager's premier was "The Abandoned", which centered around a Jem'Hadar child being discovered by Quark and its rapid growth as it ran around the station freaking people out and causing all sorts of headaches for everyone on board. The stardate for this episode, 48301, places these events either just before or during Voyager's time docked at the station, in which case Janeway would have been most likely made fully aware of the potential security risk involved. If she hadn't already been informed as a Starfleet captain of the Dominion, she would have learned about them while on DS9. Incidentally, her senior staff would have also been briefed regarding the situation, every single member of whom was killed when Voyager was pulled into the Delta Quadrant a few days later. Given the situation her ship was in at that point, it's more than likely Janeway would have had no reason to mention the Dominion to her new senior staff, which included Chakotay, B'Elanna, and the Doctor.

Man, that Star Trek wiki has all sorts of info!

Melfice 02-19-2007 09:31 PM

Or... y'know... there's just gonna be some plot holes, no matter what they do. =P

I mean, I'm sure a universe as closely monitored by it's creator as Star Wars is gonna be RIDDLED with plotholes.

So, yeah. Don't think too much into it, is my advice.

POS Industries 02-19-2007 11:12 PM

Yeah, but the point is that it's actually rather fun to do, to look into it and work it out. Hell, a great deal of development to the Trek universe came as a result of seeing plot holes and figuring out how they could fit in, and the stories that could be conceived around those events.

Honestly, digging through all that information earlier tonight as I was writing that post was a blast!

I think that this would make an excellent forum game. The ultimate goal would be to reach a certain level or something like that. Someone could make up a set of real quests each week or a list of things to do that boost experience. The game would be mostly based on trust though.
