Twinking Out Question

I'm sure this has probably been covered, but I've never really looked at these forums and as a long time viewer of 8 Bit I just wanted to ask, "What the heck happened to Twinking Out!?" The last new one was 2004 and there was nothing said about it stopping. I just hoped someone could let me in on the reasons behind the column's abrupt end.

Thanks!

I think it had something to do with Sosa getting a job or Brian getting a restraining order. Not certain though.

If it was one of those two, probably the job one.

Thanks much I loved that column and I'm sad to see it go. And by go I mean not be updated anymore and by sad I mean slightly more bored at work from having one less thing to occupy my day with while avoiding working.

Alternatively, Khael Almighty started a "Mad Plans: So insane it has to work!" thread (which has been re-posted, adding on a "...again" at the end), where many geeky questions are answered. It's not the same as Twinkin' out, but similiar enough.

Sosa stopped because he started his own comic I believe. Or atleast he started one about the same time twinkin out stopped.

only thing that gets me is he never finished that tournament, I want to know who won. I think it was down to Wolverine vs Link

Waht does it mean to twink out anyways?

Aerozord 02-19-2007 05:12 PM

twink, comes from tweak, which means to make minor adjustments to perfect something.

Example: I am twinkin my DnD character.

Twinkin' out... well to be honest I am pretty sure it isn't supposed to mean anything. Probably a pun on "frink out"

Lord of Joshelplex 02-19-2007 05:19 PM

I dont know frink either. I have made a twink D&D character thouhg.

Tyrazial 02-19-2007 05:32 PM

twink also game from only text based games.

it also means homosexual in certain early online gaming circles.

Like Hacker nowadays has a -totally- different meaning than it did 10 years ago.

People seem to have lost the difference between Hacker and Cracker.

Mirai Gen 02-19-2007 05:35 PM

And cracker is a slang term for a racist white man. Full circle!

Twinkin' Out is a parody that stems from what I call "Justin"s in the group. The DND players who pick up - not one! but - two katanas when they make their 1st level character. Since Red Mage is all about min/max ing, it was appropriate.

That and Fbreeze, duct tape, and WD-40 really do everything you need in life.
