Some FE FF...
I didn't see a thread for fan sprites, so...

Fire Emblem Final Fantasy? That is so cool.
... Fire Fantasy?
Final Emblem? Fire Emblem Fantasy? Final Fire Emblem? The combinations are endless! ... well, not really. And the sprites look quite exquisite too. |
I'm not exactly happy with the proportions, but I think I found good palettes.
I don't think we need to worry about proportions between 8bit games.
First off, they aren't 8-bit, they're 32-bit, which is SNES and GBA. Second, yes, the proportions are off, it's bad sprite editting, but then again, I don't know how to do bad sprite editting, so Janyel, you probably did a damn fine job. My avatar is an FE pic as well, you know... v.v.. but anyways. I think the BM one is really off, you didn't find good palletes for him, you need to find realistic and fitting colors, not only for the characters, but to match the game. and that just didn't work, even for the other two sprites. The eyes are just yellow. and in FE, Black Mages would probably have their head lowered so much you couldn't see their faces, because they don't do shadowed faces.. and the hat is seriously deformed. I'd be willing to try my take at this, but I'm too busy making my own, maybe later. ^ ^''.. Besides the BM though, the Time Mage is pretty damn good, and I love the RM sprite, the RM sprite looks like it belongs in the game (if the game had the same type of spriting as you do), it's so cool.
So toss out the BM? Makes sense, that was my first try.
The pose you put him in was probably hard to do to try FE sprites right off the bat, right? But you did a good job. You wouldn't have to get rid of it, just either make a new one, or improve on it and make it look better. Make it more color-wise. You never use colors that are directly from Paint's paint pallete, and you have to remember that light colors like that yellow are only meant for bright shine. Think realistically. If there's anything I've noticed between FF and FE, it's FE is a lot more sophisticated and proffessional and realistic, applied (example: main character Ephriam has the most basic armor I've ever seen.). But FF is just all style and cool (example: Tidus, what he's wearing would NEVER look good in real life, EVER, but it's stylish and it's a game). So real up the characters, make them look less out there, and apply color and gravity sense. Everything else is perfect.
I dunno, I kinda like the glowy eyes... And FE has anti-gravity capes. They make me laugh.
Now, which BM is better? The ripped-I-see-you one, or the no-eyes-help-I-can't-see one? http://img339.imageshack.us/img339/5679/bmtestei0.png Both are a few pixels shorter, by the way. And Red Mage has a new hat! http://img230.imageshack.us/img230/8228/rmso9.png And the Time Mage feels left out! |
The red mage is cool. o o... speaking of cool.
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...dd/FEFF1BM.png Tada! sorry.. . . I decided I'd do it. This is a perfect example of the translation of colors and stuff. I made it out of the male mage sprite, except he looks way cooler now. v.v I tried making the crossing arms by myself, I don't think it came out well, but I'm generally proud of what I did. Practice makes perfect, and I felt it wasn't fair to copy your sleeves and hands. The sleeves aren't as long as I picture BM, so eh....... But I was trying to do BM, not a general Black Mage, so. <.<'' and BAH! I hate highlights on stuff... I can never completely understand how to do highlights. |
