looking for a new mmorpg

after the last nerf to trial of atlantis gear, there is a good chance my brother and i will be cancelling our 3 dark age of camelot accounts(unless mythic pulls a rabbit out of their ass and gives players refunds for the money we spent getting the gear). Anyway we are looking for a new online rpg.

Please don't recommend the following
Star War galaxies: We didn't like it
Diablo 2: Tried that
FFXI: Sorry, no pve only grinds
shadowbane: Was in beta

I only played AC2 for a few days but it seemed like it was a great MMORPG. Microsoft has a 15-day free trial at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

Can't really hurt to try it out for a couple weeks.

If you don't mind nothing but text, MUDs are a good choice.

i'm against AC2 from the things i've heard about. I heard that the player base doesn't support pvp and pvp killing. That's what really kept me in DAoC for years was the pvp system.

well, currently im trying to get an 8-bit group together in Ragnarok Online. seems like it has some promise, and its got a free download and 15 day trial.

Earth and Beyond has undergone a number of improvements since i left, so its probably worth a shot too. yes, i did leave, but not after a year and a half of enjoyment.

I too reccomend Ragnarok Online...I just started...and johnny socko, I'd be interested in joining...I've got an acolyte in the works named Arenis Telan on Loki server.
EDIT: forgot to mention my main draw to the game. Low system req (i have a 5 year old comp) and lots of potential...once I can get a decent char developed. I also like how the game plays and the mechanics of skills etc.

Whatever one you pick, don't touch Horizons: Empire of Istaria by Artifact Entertainment with a ten foot pole. They rushed it to have it out by Christmas. It's not finished, it looks bland, it's repetitive, and not one programmer at AE knows what dealloc is for because it's the most unholy memory leaker I have ever encountered. I needed to go to Kentucky to find someone sufficiently inbred to give this game its deserved rating of three thumbs down.
