#816: "Also, Rodney is imaginary, so..."

King Steve may be my favorite character.

greed 03-06-2007 01:52 AM

He is awesome, never been a bad King Steve comic.

Jared Todd 03-06-2007 01:59 AM

Well, no, they're not bad, but I generally dislike side comics. Because I love the normal story and want to see more, obviously. King Steve is pretty damned funny, though. Just not.... awesome, per se. At least to me. Bah.

Yeah, this comic was just... King Stevey. I could predict the length of this topic is going to be, like, one and a half pages like some other threads. Not much to say about this besides praise it. >.>

Major Blood 03-06-2007 02:02 AM

King Steve should have is own comic.

He's that awesome.

One could make that case, but then one would have to assume that 8-bit theaters plot development is anything but random and accidental.

PyrosNine 03-06-2007 02:26 AM

Y'know, that Mario Communism thing is pretty old. I recall watching it like, a year or more ago.

Still pretty freaking cool though.

Also, I'm still waiting for Imperialist Mario taking over the Mushroom Kingdom for the US to exploit it's natural resources and mind/body altering shrooms, and Catholic Mario converting the pagan Koopas by breaking their knees with his hammer.

On today's comic, I think it's a pity that the piece of string, Steve's arch nemesis, wasn't allowed at that particular poker game, lest Corneria have things like 'justice' and 'freedom'.

Demetrius 03-06-2007 02:34 AM

Honestly the people of Corneria have probably just given up on listenning to thier monarch and pay him lipservice while they actually enjoy a free market, semi-communist health and education systems and are generally free from the idiotic interferences of higher government. I mean honestly do you think the place would be as sucessful as it is if Steve actually ran things (I leave out the King bit because I hope Rodney refuses to relinquish 'control' of the kingdom).

Rocketlex 03-06-2007 02:55 AM

King Steve still controls their military, though. At least, he wields enough power to declare Warroween.

Demetrius 03-06-2007 03:00 AM

Or does he...I still vote a dog and pony show put on by the populace to maintain their peace.

POS Industries 03-06-2007 03:14 AM

Did that actually look more like Luigi to anyone else? I mean, think about it: A communist Luigi would be more likely to wear red. And the likelihood of Luigi leading a communist uprising was addressed by me in the past.

WVI 03-06-2007 05:33 AM

If you don't mind me asking, would this be a tribute to Michael?

Bisected8 03-06-2007 06:00 AM

Hang on a moment. KS just admitted Rodney's imaginary. Could he be becoming sane?

RickZarber 03-06-2007 10:55 AM

I think it's actually a little more insane of him to know that the Rodney is imaginary and still act as if he weren't.

Point taken.

Sky Warrior Bob 03-06-2007 01:01 PM

Maybe Rodney might even be a better King than Steve. I mean, even a figment of imagination from Steve's mind can't be much worse than Steve on his own.

Can it? (Wait, do I even want that question answered?)

(And I know I need to get to work on Tiamat sprites Brian... I just wish for once you'd bug me about such matters.)

I think people like the characters for various reasons.

Steve: 'Cause he's just so lovable with his rose-tinted view of the world.
RM: Because he gets so excited about geeky stuff.
BM: Because he does what we all want to do, but don't, and has the most expressive face (ironic, eh?).
Fighter: Because he's as lovably dumb and oblivious as Steve.
Thief: 'Cause he's such an @$$, but smart about it.
WM: Because she's become so patently unhealerlike over time.
BB: Because he's something nobody can have. We humans always want the unattainable.

As for the comic: I think it's cute. But wasn't Rodney the stain on the floor? o_0

Alex the Son of Darko 03-06-2007 04:29 PM

O...M...G....

its bad enough King Steve, who is the biggest MORON in the comic (topping even Fighter), was driving Corneria into utter RUIN...

but now...now its being ruled by a frigging COFFEE STAIN??!!

tis a sad, sad, SAD day for Corneria, tis a sad, sad, SAD day indeed...

Willowhugger 03-06-2007 04:38 PM

The Coffee Stain is urged on by his wife Twinkevita.

They'll crush dissenters with the Army and have a musical written about them.

Nuklear Waste 03-06-2007 04:50 PM

HELL YES! King Steve! This episode made me remember that King Steve is my favorite character. Ever since the teleporting turkey it's just been non-stop pure win. And the episode before the teleporting tukey was great, too!!

Anyway, King Steve episodes will always be my favorite episodes, although I would like to see more of Fighter's journal.

P.S. I just realized that I am an idiot because only an idiot would want more King Steve.

The Wandering God 03-06-2007 08:04 PM

I think the real problem with King Steve isn't that his left hand doesn't know what his right hand is doing.

I think it's Rodney being a different part of King Steve's brain that apparently only manifests itself whenever Gary isn't around.

But at least Gary got props from King Steve.
I don't see any fucking typos.

...Rodney is a COFFEE STAIN that Steve made his right hand cause he is as smart as a box of crushed rock dust.

...that means he is dumber than Fighter. King Steve is DUMBER than FIGHTER!! that is saying a LOT

whoiam 03-06-2007 08:48 PM

Although, technically, BM, RM, Thief and Drizzl are all dumber then fighter as well...

The Wandering God 03-06-2007 09:01 PM

The coffe stain is merely his projection into the physical world.

And besides, Fighter is the smartest one in the group.

Am I the only one who smelled quest advancement? Mmm, MQ exp.

bass_virus 03-07-2007 12:46 PM

You know this might actually be a good thing for the people of Corneria. I mean how badly can a coffee stain screw things up more than Steve? I've always thought it was weird that the citizens never rallied behind Princess Sara to overthrow King Steve, I mean you'd think a damn military coup would've happened by now.

whoiam 03-07-2007 01:49 PM

I guess princess Sara's never tried to lead one. And I doubt the military minds him too much... except maybe about their orders during the war with elfland...

Scooter 03-07-2007 07:49 PM

noone cares probably, plus Princess Sara has most likely already taken over, and is just letting steve be, well.... steve

8 Man 03-07-2007 07:57 PM

But King Steve is like... old or something. And as we all know, old people can't stupid--just senile (see: Bill Cosby).

And just for clarification, Luigi is more Leninist whereas Mario is more Stalinist. But Mario, being the more widely-recognized of the two, is immortalized in iconic format over a greater spectrum for some reason.

Also, I just typed three consecutive sentences beginning with conjunctions.

Old people can be dumb as fuck (see: George dubya) there's just some sort of wisdom that comes with being old.

plus, Mario is obviously Marxist.

xravi 03-07-2007 08:31 PM

...........the people are screwed.
