Master Quest

I just got Ocarina of Time: Master Quest for Game Cube, and was wondering what everyone thought about it.

For those of you that don't know, it is OoT, but the dungeons are completely different.

gee I'm wondering what I should say considering I'm borrowing your copy....hhhhmmmmmmmm.......well its cool (nostalgia is a great feeling) and challenging (DAMN YOU OBVIOUS UNDER YOUR NOSE CHALLENGES) and manages to be a new experience even if it's EXACTLY the same as OoT in most ways

By the way, lazy man, here is your avatar. Just right-click, save target as, and upload it. Don't forget to acredit me in your sig.

I've been wondering about Master Quest, since it's different... Do you still have a need for Epona? If you don't need that horse, then I won't stay that course.

Minor Dizaster 02-10-2004 07:54 PM

Everything out of the dungeons is the same, it's in the dungeons that it's different.

Dante Reborn 02-10-2004 07:56 PM

That's good. Of course, I probably wouldn't be able to even set that course for a while...

The dungeons changeups were nice.... here's what I thought of them in relation to their original versions:
Deku Tree: A little harder
Dodongo Cavern: Quite a bit harder
Jabu Jabu: A bit less frustrating
Forest Temple: Harder
Fire Temple: A little easier
Water Temple: Absolute joke
Shadow Temple: About the same
Spirit Temple: Hardest dungeon out of either version of the game

Tell me about it. It took me three hours of switching back and forth from child to adult link til I found out that you open the stupid door by hitting the goddamned chest. Gablarg!

I remember that it was reall hard, and tedious at certain points. It took everything you knew about the game and turned it against you. Quite ingenious, really.

You see, when I first heard that this was going to be the un-released Gaiden version, and hearing about the "extra sidequest" (Which I never found), I got excited thinking it might just have the Triforce that I spent so many hours searching for. When I realized it was the same game but with different dungeons, I lost interest around the Shadow Temple. Over the course of the next few months, I maneged to beat it and collect all the odds and ends out of guilt. I was a little anoyed at the end, when the ending was EXACTLY the same. I was expecting a "You are a Master Gamer!" screen at the very least. But they didn't even do that. Sheesh.

I got it and finished it. It was a very nice change to an old favorite. Although I would have liked a different ending. I never did like it.
