FF Chapter 9
 

ooc-I typed this up...and when I posted earlier I got disconnected. -_-; Ugh...sometimes my computer can be a pain.

With Radeus dead and the others freed of his control, and Dante allows them to go. However, none of them would leave the mountain. Shara, had nowhere else to go. Gaia felt as if he owed something to Dante, and did not feel ready to leave. As for Bolverk and Abigail, the former was unable to leave as Radeus was, and Abigail wished to stay and learn from the ancient technology found within the storehouses of the mountain. Dante himself decides to stay with them in the mountain, as does Sister Milani, and together they all begin their thorough exploration of the mountain.

Meanwhile, back in N'Revat, Deamon's demon army has come much closer to the capital, Preos. Only a few hours away now, soon they will arrive and for those remaining in the city two choices are available; either they run or fight. The choice is pretty clear to some, running doesn't guarantee life but fighting does ensure death.

(OOC: How much time has passed since the last chapter? If it's picking up right at the same time, then Ciaran is going to change his plans and have Ren leave, while he stays behind to fight. If it's been a few days then everyone would already be on the way, and the defenses I had planned for Preos could already be underway... about half of them anyway.)

[OOC:] Yeah, bad timing on this one, chief. Next time, could you post up a warning post in the previous chapter?

ooc-Well, Deamon's Army was only a few hours behind, but you may not have to change your plans. Noone knows yet that the demons have become more resistant to sunlight.

ooc-Well...I would suppose that it is the next day after the opening of the gate, sometime into the afternoon.

Edit: Also, I did put up a warning post. In case you have forgotten, I said that this chapter should have been ready yesterday. I'm over half a day late.

(OOC: cac kairi and the others have just caught up with everyone else? Since it might be bad if everyone suddenly starts running again and leaves us behind again ^^;; )

(OOC: Ok, I'm going to fast forward the basement thing a bit. Anyone who wants an item, just like... ask Mr. V or FZ, and we'll just say they got something like it for you... also, I'm thinking Arc's flaming sword can go to Marche, seeming as Arc doesn't know how to use it.

And... Here's Ciaran's new plan. Oh, and Blyr, there should be enough magitek for every refugee/Bandit that knows how to pilot one... it is after all the entire magitek forces of N'Revat... and the escape passage is an underground tunnel that one of the previous kings had created so that he could escape Preos incase of any attacks. Hasn't been used for centuries.

Edit: Oh yah... and Ren... General Clique will be one of the prisoners... if you need help on him, just ask. That also means he'll be free now. Aren't you guys happy?)

Ciaran led the group calmly through the hallway toward the dungeon. All of them were carrying at least one newly acquired magical artifact, and Ciaran seemed quite smug... however, it didn't last long. A messenger ran through the corridor stopping when he saw him, a jumble of words exiting his mouth in a panic. "SIR! THEREISANARMYOFDEMONSONLYAFEWHOURSAWAY ANDWE'RESTILLWEAKFROMBEFORE!"

The emperor grabbed the man and shook him. "Calm down, you're speaking too quickly!" The man nodded slowly and was visibly trembling at his own news. "Now... what about an army of demons?"

"They're only a few hours away, sir!" The man was still panicked, his voice trembling and coming out as a shout, as his knees quivered.

Ciaran's expression changed to a frown. Their defenses were decimated and as it stood, they had no chance. No... they had one... but it was risky. The emperor looked at the messenger again. "Get everyone into my throne room... civilians and soldiers alike. And try and bring a few wagons there."

His eyes then moved to Blyr, "You get the refugees and head to the magitek room and go to the throne room with the magitek, hook the wagons up to them, and you'll know what to do after that."

He then turned his attention to Ren and pulled a key out of his vest and tossing it to her. "Bring this to the dungeons, release everyone, shut off the antimagic auras and then go to my throne room. Open the escape passage, and start moving people into it... we need to get out of Preos quickly."

His eyes fell on Dezil last. "You... come with me. I need your help setting up a trap for the demons." With that Ciaran grabbed Dezil and began to run towards the workshop. No time to be calm... we have to move.

OOC: I think for the purpose of Celes, Zephir and I not falling father behind, it might be best for us to have caught up with the rest of the group. Is that ok?

OOC: Sounds fine by me.

Dezil followed behind Ciaran and said, "What are you doing, and where are we going?" Dezil was also worried about the news of the demons, but he wasn't sure how to respond to it yet, although there were a few hours. Suddenly he figured Ciaran had to have some Magitek trick up his sleeve, and Dezil asked again, "What do you need me for?"

Ciaran had released Dezil, now that the engineer was following of his own free will, and answered his questions as they came to the workshop. "You're going to help Glam finish that death field generator before the demons get here. It shouldn't be hard, he's mostly just repairing the old one... then we're going to purposely break the energy regulator, and put it on a switch hooked up to the throne room doors once the civilians have all gotten through. The demon's open or knock the doors apart, and the death field activates. Hopefully we'll be out of range."

Ciaran pointed at the machine. "Get to work, I'm going to make sure things go smoothly in the throne room. If you can't get it done in time, just grab a magitek, load it with as many tools and supplies as you can, and head into the escape tunnel. I'll keep it open until everyone's gone through." With that Ciaran left the workshop and headed toward his throne room.

(OOC: In other words, Death Field bomb hooked up to take out as many of the demons as possible when they get into the throne room.)
