I'm torn between calling it perfect and trying to improve it with Metal Storm technology.

A super-accurate shotgun that fires millions of high explosive rounds a minute and is incredibly easy to maintain and use? Where do I get one?

Neat gun, though.

I think the military is watching too many zombie movies...

Or am I the only one who thinks this gun is perfect for the zombpocalypse?

They scoffed when I brought up the idea of a fully-automatic shotgun.

And here it is.

I mean, I was expecting one of those crazy quantum anomaly generators or whatever it is Sithdarth plays with in his spare time, but this...this is just too awesome.

I remember watching a documentary on Metal Storm in a high school history class. Get some depleted uranium buckshot, combine with that, and end every war ever before it starts.

World Leader 1: "You fiends! Stop using our country as a dump for your radioactive waste and prisoners immediately! This nation hereby declares war on yours!"
World Leader 2: "We have a fully automatic poly-barrel shotgun."
Word Leader 1: "You know, we weren't REALLY using our front lanws..." I see a B-movie in the makes...

Oh I've decided I can improve upon it. I was thinking loading up 4 barrels metal storm style and firing them off railgun style, instead of with gun powder, at mach 10 or so. Plus, changing up the high explosive mini grenade round with a thermobaric mini grenade round whose explosion is much like a nuclear explosion in minature. I figure it could just about replace artillery for some applications.

Well it certainly looks neat, but I'm not sure about it's practicality. Quadruple so for Metal Storm, the deceivingly useless weapon system of the future!

Its actually set for field deployment. Its got a built in recoil mechanism that makes the recoil very manageable as the video demonstrates. Plus its got an automated turrent system with a wireless joystick that you can attach any two of these guns too. Besides that the basic conventional automatic shotgun has undergone and passed extensive military testing. Heck they even developed a high explosive round just for it, that accurately flies a hundred yards or a few hundred yards. I think they might be doing a limited field test in Iraq now but I'm not sure.

Now the metal storm thing is a bit more out there. But with metal storm you can fire all the bullets from the gun before the recoil even starts. Thereby avoiding all the nasty aim destroying recoil. Its quite a nifty concept.

Am I the only one who was reminded of a CnC clip in that Metal Storm bit (Especially the last half)?

A fully automatic shotgun intrigues me... But I don't see the actual practicality of it over simply a shotgun with a massive clip size, except against some vehicles in a pinch... You certainly don't need to fire 10 rounds per second from a shotgun, since it's unlikely you'll ever need more than two (or one) shots per target at an effective range... Or so I think.

[EDIT]: The sheet amount of time it apparantly takes to reload it doesn't help much either in an automatic.
