I'm not terribly sure that it's the actual theme song. This could just be one of those "Music inspired by" things they stick in albums, or something they'll play during the credits.

Maybe I got a little mislead by the final trailer, but I could have sworn they were going for an orchestra score here, ala the Spider Man series.

Well, it's not that there's actually a theme per se. But I saw some of the stuff on the composers/musicians working on the Transformers movie score on a Shortpacked! newspost. Also, if you play the new trailer, listen to the music right when the dude is saying, "We're facing war against a technological civilization far superior to our own." You can tell there's a little smidgen of the original TFs score.

Anyway. TF movie toys finally hit us, and I got Barricade and Jazz. They're both totally sweet, but Jazz's arms are significantly more complex than Barricade's. Barricade was easy as hell to transform, since you just pull out on the sides of the cop car's front and back and it just kind of pops out.

There was, amazingly, no Optimus Prime Leader class. They had Optimash Prime, Robot Heroes, and everything, but no Optimus Prime. I also skipped out on Bumblebee, but I might get him later. I'm trying to avoid splurging right now, since the movie toys are going to last several months. I've got all the time in the world.

And Starscream actually does look pretty sweet. I think I'll get him and Bonecrusher next. Bonecrusher hates everything.

He hates that damn bus the most!
Seriously, I hope they make a version of Bonecrusher that comes with a bus since its now pretty much its own character.

I also want to express my deep anger at the severe lack of Ratchet at the toy store today.

I mean, Optimus Prime is bad enough. But Ratchet? Come on, he's been one of my favorites ever since I picked up the old Marvel Comic-era reprints they did of the TFs a while back. The way he's been a mainstream character in the IDW storyline has only made me love him all the more.

Also: Bonecrusher doesn't hate that bus originally. He was just kind of skating along, saw the bus, and decided, "You know what? I hate buses, too." And then he destroyed it. He's complex like that.

My toy store only has one pitiful little corner reserved for Transformers. They had Starscream, Ironhide, Barricade and Bumblebee... and that was pretty much it for the "main" line. Other than that, a good amount of Real Gear, Cyber Stompin' figures, Cyber Slammers, and the helmet and Big Rig Blaster four times each. I can't say I get their stocking method entirely.

Then again, their corporate identity statement said "our stock is selected by moral, humanitarian and Christian ideals." Maybe that has something to do with it. Got me thinking, too. "I'm about to buy a toy fighter jet that has attached to its undercarriage two weapons so massive they would render every attempt to get it in the air in real life moot. It turns into an evil robot that has these weapons for arms. Boy, good thing it complies with humanitarian and Christian standards."

Do you *WANT* them to stop stocking Transformers altogether? (Pointing out they're hypocrisy isn't exactly going to win you a gold star.)

Just because I've got no skill for this, I thought I'd post my thoughts about how to make the new TF theme better. First of all, remove the roll-call bit. Its clunky & just doesn't work. After that, dub over the 'Robots in Disguise' (from the Season 3 G1 series) over that really weak Autobots are watching over you ending.

I'm surprised I'm going to say this, but I like the other theme song better.

Why is it we can't just have the orchestral score of Transformers as the theme and leave it at that? Christ. Did they not learn anything from Spider Man 1-3?

I've heard that there is an orchestral version, and a bit of it is even in one of the the trailers. They just aren't putting it on the album.

I have heard that they intend to put out another album devoted to such music, but I don't want to risk something like that never being produced, because the music album sells fairly poorly.

Oh, and as mentioned in an update earlier (that I'm sure none of you read), I'm going on the Hasbro tour! See, one of the things that is going on at Bot Con is a tour of the Hasbro factory. But, its limited to only 500 ppl, and the final 100 was limited to ppl drawn at random. Well, I was in drawing, and the results are in.

And I won, I'm the happiest boy ever!
