How to Beat Anybody at Rock Paper Scissors

Via the World Rock Paper Scissor Society.

Apparently they're serious about this.

With the 2006 World Rock Paper Scissors Championships coming up in November in Toronto and $10,000.00 on the line (not to mention bragging rights of being able to call yourself "World Champion of RPS"), trying to get some sort of edge on your competition is becoming a focal point for a lot of players.
They need to make "RPS World Champion" printed on some kind of World Wrestling Federation leather/gold belt. That's the only thing that'll make it better.

Rock, paper, scissors is made much more entertaining (and worthwhile to win) when you play its fun filled variation "Rock, paper, SLAP!"

Win a round, slap your opponent.

Such incentive to win is ultimately more satisfying than $10,000.00 personally. Especially when you're opponent is someone you really don't like.

Scissors gets chosen the least? What the hell?

Whenever I play against anyone, I regularly just cycle through rock, paper, and scissors in that order. Very few people ever pay enough attention to catch on.

Ah the RPS club is infamous at Auckland University.
My big problem is thier dictatorial stance on the "handshake paper". This rule bans vertical papers and carries onto the world stage as apparentely there are problems with "scrunched papers" which can be quickly changed between rock and paper.
But they do not see the beautiful procession inherent in the RPS triad. Rock is a vertical fist with no finger, scissors a vertical first with 2 fingers, paper a vertical fist with all fingers out. The rock can squeeze into the fingers of scissors and pry them apart, the scissors can crush the isolated fingers of paper but the net of paper is impenetrable to rock as it cannot push fingers further apart due to other fingers in there way. It is a beautiful threesome that is being destroyed.
And how can a horizontal paper crush a rock. One needs to raise ones hand to envelop it! With both symbols vertical the rock naturally emerges in the middle of the paper palm.
In protest we started unleash handshake papers at tournaments. We demonstrated that it is just as easy to switch between scissors and rock.
Do not follow thier propaganda! Do not hear thier lies! Vertical is the way of the future! Horizontal is for fat people! Join us collossi of cool and stand tall and proud! Do not slouch beneath the foul rocks of your oppressors.
Long live paper!
As for strategy the triple rock (otherwise known as the landslide) is a devestating strategy against new players. My personal favourite is the paper weight (rock, paper, paper).

Bragging rights? You'd think something like this is something you'd want to keep secret. Cause I don't forsee the winner picking up too many women at a bar by telling them about it. In fact telling someone you're world campion of RPS falls somewhere between telling them you were once attracted to your cousin and that you were once part of the Hitler youth.

It must suck if you get runner-up in that thing. Being a geek is one thing, if being a geek gets you rich. But if you are a geek, and you lose, you are a geek and a loser.

If I remember correctly the world champion wins about $10000 or something.
There was havoc at one of the regionals last year when someone threw dynamite. Good times, good times.
