Die Hard 4

I must admit that, when I first heard they were making this, I was highly skeptical. I think that like most people, I never thought it would EVER be as good as the original trilogy.

But after seeing this trailer I may have to revise that opinion.

Other than the obviously stolen from 24 idea of "I've got to get my daughter back", this movie looks brilliant.

Really, anything with Bruce Willis as John McLane destroying a city in the pursuit of "justice", is alright by me.

I love John McLane with a passion that borders on obsession. I will love this movie, forever and ever!

I am interested in how he deals with modern terrorism, which isn't at all similar to some crazy gun wielding mercenaries holding stuff hostage, but instead some crazy computer wielding geeky 20 somethings that are holding the United States computer infrastructure hostage.

One thing I must bring up is that John should be infamous by now. I mean, you stop three terrorist attempts three times, and now your face should be in front of every would be terrorist as something they need to be afraid of!

Even that guy on 24 was recognized as a threat as the seasons went on...but I suppose it's part of the joke of his obscurity. It is kinda funny when someone goes "Who are YOU?" to the awesomeness that is John McLane.

Is this kind of going to be like the new Rocky, in the way that it's a guy past his prime adding an excessive sequel on to an old series just to make more money? Right now, thats what it looks like to me.

P-Sleazy 04-04-2007 09:26 AM

Yea, but Bruce Willis isn't past his prime...yet. Plus, did you see the awesomeness?

42PETUNIAS 04-04-2007 09:30 AM

He looked pretty old and past his prime in that trailer... That might just be me though.

P-Sleazy 04-04-2007 09:59 AM

Bruce Willis was always bald. If thats what you're talking about.

42PETUNIAS 04-04-2007 10:13 AM

I dunno, he just looks chunkier and older to me in that trailer.

P-Sleazy 04-04-2007 01:20 PM

Thats just the camera adding 15 pounds and 15 years.

Fifthfiend 04-04-2007 06:23 PM

Bruce Willis has been old and past his prime since the first Die Hard movie. That's practically the entire point of Bruce Willis.

Ugh, I liked Die Hard & Die Hard 3, but this? I'm sorry, but this looks like somebody went WAY overboard w/ the SFX to make up for a lack of plot.

The other Die Hards weren't entirely about the visuals. Yes, they had them, but this is more than a little overboard. And frankly, while DH1, 2 & 3 did a pretty decent job of tying Bruce into the action, this trailer makes me feel like they're not going to even bother w/ an explaination this time.

All I know is that it was originally scheduled to play at the same times as the TF movie, but they didn't think they had a strong enough product to compete. Read into that as you will.
