NPF Member Comic Archive
Ok so this is the essential thread for the NPF comic archive. You want to upload your own comic ask here. You want to suggest a design change suggest it here. Have something else to contribute it goes here as well.
The NPF Member Comic Archive! |
Impeccable timing, just a few days ago I found a CD where I'd archived all my comic stuff. I'll gladly make them available and could even write liner notes for a few if there's an interest.

I can set you up with your own username and password for as many series as you have and you could upload them in your spare time. Plus there is a news section that allows for comments to be made on each individual comic.

I could upload most of my stuff (maybe all of it, I'll have to check), but since Rick has all this stuff, I feel like waiting for him to upload the whole archive in one go. Though, if you're allowing us to post comments on our stuff as was suggested last time we tried this, or Rick is unable to upload the archive, I'll need (want?) an account.
As to design, is there a way to separately group by author, story, and date other than essentially coding three archives? I'm imagining, say, a drop-down menu with "Sort by: author, series, date" or something like that. But that seems like it'd be a lot of work, either tagging the comics by those categories somehow, or coding three different archives. If it's doable, however, it'd be a nice touch. Or, totally separate idea, put a link on each comic to its original posting in the comic thread, for those who want to investigate the context of past comics. And hooray for trying this again. EDIT: And ninjas have answered some of my questions. So, Sith, do we need our own FTP client, or have you coded up a web-based one? Also, I'm about to leave on my weekly intarweb exile, so I won't be able to respond to any answers/set stuff up/upload stuff 'til Sunday evening. Chao. |
Good stuff. I never had different series as such so I'd probably upload it all in one package. Hit me up.

The comic manager script allows for the creation of individual accounts for people for individual series and all that. Unfortunately the script requires that you upload through it which means one comic at a time. It also requires a date to be applied to each comic. I would like to take this chance to mention that if you are going to upload your own comic make sure you start at a date far enough back so that all your comics can be given a different date. Otherwise the script messes up pretty horribly.
Every comic has its own navigation type thing with buttons that allow you to surf back to previously uploaded comics. I also plan on setting up separate accounts for every series. I would like to know what series are discontinued as well because I'm separating them from the active ones. |
Well, if there's a website that means i have no excuse to be lazy with my comic.
Hook me up, and i'll actually start updating it again. |
That mean you are going to upload all the back ones too? Also, I have to make a run to town right now I'll set you up when I get back.
|
Yeah, i'll upload them all.
|
Oh and I need to know what you want your comic series to be called and how many you have. (This goes for everyone.)
