Moments in games that piss you off.
To level up my people in FFX I do a dungeoun crawl in omega. but lately it has been so frustrating. Every time I go in there I get all the way back and on my way back to the save point. my party will get hit with a mass confuse attack and either kill it self or die of poison cause they won't break the confuse status. Normally I worked out a system to get around the biggest offender, the Greater Malboro. This last time, in a preemptive strike no less. A spirit hit my party with poison myst after the first attack. Auron avoided the confuse. and auto meded himself. However Wakka then kills Auron. Then Tidus kills wakka. Then Tidus kills himself killing the party and costing me 30 minutes of leveling cause Squarsoft is populated by sadistic bastards.

The malboros in FF8 do a smiliar thing. Even if I junction the party so that some of them can avoid being completely wrecked, I still lose a good number of turns while waiting for someone to starts esuna-ing.
What really pissed me off in FF8 was trying to get to Bahamut. Go in, answer a question, fight a ruby dragon. Answer a second question, fight a second ruby dragon... which back attacks you EVERY TIME and uses a breath attack that wipes your entire party out! You can juncion any old way you want, no combination of alertness, initiative, poison resistance, speed, or haste will save you. It appears to be simple random chance which might allow one of your characters to survive. This frustrated me for days. I must have been annihilated over 30 times. |
I think the same thing has happened at least once in every final fantasy game...
Even in Final Fantasy 1... I remember that I had finally found out how to get to Tiamat's floor in the sky castle; for those that have played the game...you remember the whole down-right-down-right thing (This already took me 30 minutes of going through the mirage tower and the castle mind you) On the way up the hall I ran into warmech, and to my luck he uses Nuclear (Nuke or something like that) and my party is wiped out before I even knew what a warmech was... All that left me with was a dead party, 30 minutes of time missing from my life, and a nintendo controller snaped in half. |
SOA has furiated my more than once. Most of the time, the boss will literally have 0 health left, his health bar is totally gone, it's practically in the negatives. Then he mananges to unleach his ultimate attack TWICE, killing everybody. Another thing is that my party will 90% of the time deside that they need to be in a line formation. If one person's out of place, they will make sure they get in a line, even when casting magic. This leaves everyone wide open for all the lightning attacks and penetrating stuff. I blame all this on how you are forced to fight a random encounter every 5 seconds.

How's about the mission in GoldenEye where you have to get the golden gun? You have to walk that pattern up to the box that's holding the gun in the correct order or else you get tanked by four floor-mounted machine guns.
And Sephiroth's Meteor tends to be somewhat of a bitch. |
The insane amount of battle-one-step-after-battles in the first two SaGas. Seriously, it's ridiculous. Even my pimped-out robot Kari couldn't survive the 8-floor cave of goodies in 2, the place where it was most angering me.
This COULD be due to the fact that I don't run unless I'm out of healing effect uses, though... |
One time in an RPG (I can't remember which one it was... maybe FF7? ) it took me forever and a day to defeat this one big boss, and I needed to save DESPERATELY. I knew there was a savepoint back a screen, so I headed that way, and what did I run into? A monster that horrible mutalated me a step from the save point. >_< that made me so mad.
And two other things were more CD errors than the actual game. After one of the LONGEST cutscenes (made even longer, because I was playing it on the computer version and it was extremely slow) the game would ALWAYS freeze at this certain part. I kept trying to get through it and I messed with the computer and such to see if I could fix it but NOTHING worked. I swear I had to go sit through that freaking scene a million times. |
