Brenda Brathwaite is a vocal advocate within the industry known for frank discussions on sex, censorship and ESRB issues. Recently she was awarded the 2007 Presidential Fellowship at the Savannah
College of Art and Design to create a lecture and gallery exhibit titled, "What You Don't Know About Video Games..." The installation is aimed at parents and others unfamiliar with video games and the industry. The lecture is designed to cover all kinds of topics like ratings, game content, career options and the good video games are doing in all kinds of fields.
I really hope she does a speech and tour of the exibit, and it gets put on YouTube or something. I really want to see this.

I do to, I'd go if I could, which I cant.

Woo! The gaming industry fights back with reason and learning... I hope this does well and is continued elsewhere.

I really like this...we have an educated voice fighting for the rights of mature gamers...now maybe I won't get hassled by moms in Best Buy for buying games.

Finally parents will see that violent games are a way for people to get their aggression out, MMORPG's are for community interaction, and learn the awesomeness of the text-based game.

When are we forcing Jack Thompson to go?

Lord of Joshelplex 04-15-2007 11:24 PM

If he went, he would burn her at the stake.

That was really funny. Perfect rip on a simple Jack Thompson move, with a little classy religious 'burn the witch' reference.

But yeah I really wish this was in San Francisco or something, because that's pretty close and I really want to go.

Lord of Joshelplex 04-16-2007 06:55 AM

The intent was not to be funny, I was attempting to state facts. Seriously though, I think that he will be badmouthing it after.

Tendronai 04-16-2007 08:22 AM

It's sad, but he probably will bad-mouth her. He'll, in all likelihood, claim that she's a puppet of the dread racket which has aligned himself against him, and thus, God.

It's because most of his campaigning is based on ignorance and fear-mongering. If people were educated, they might (gasp) ignore him.

Unfortunately I think reason and discussion left such videogame discussions a long time ago.
It reminds me in the late 30's when scientists began to tear Nazi eugenics to shreds. Surely there will be learning and discussion in such matters the people cried. Well unfortunately not.
