Live365 - What should I play?

Okay, so here's the deal. I've got a 3 moth payment for my own Live365 station. What i'm going to be playing is mostly Power Metal. Bands like Dragonforce, Dream Evil, Rhapsody, Manowar, etc. Unfortunatly, my taste in power metal isn't very.... wide. What i need is suggestions on what bands to play, whether i should include any other genres(keep in mind, i won't play Rap, at all).

Also, i'm taking suggestions on what to call my station. Seeing as how it'll be mostly NPF members who are listening to it, something NPF/8-Bit related would be awesome.

I don't know what power metal is but I suggest you listen to In Flames

First of all, choose a genre of music that doesn't suck. I mean, Power Metal? You can do better than that. (Says the boy who listens to massive amounts of video game music.)

My advice is don't limit yourself to a narrow genre. Throw in a lot of stuff that sounds good, and doesn't clash all that bad.

And I wouldn't dismiss rap that much. Mainstream rap, yes, but get some older stuff, or some stuff from independent labels, and it'll mix in quite well. Hell, drop in some Beastie Boys or some Run DMC, and you're golden.

Like the above post, don't just entirely dismiss an entire Genre of music because I can guarantee you, that everyone will like at least ONE song of that genre (maybe not the same song, but still), even if they consider that genre complete crap.

With Rap, Eminem's older stuff is pretty good. I also hear that Lupe Fiasco is good. Also not sure if he's rap or not. So don't completly over play just one genre, try to give your listeners a little breather every so often so long as its not "well we have to play ____ cause we're a variety station, so lets do all our ______ songs at once" or something like that.

Also, everyone likes Pink Floyd. You can't deny that. Oh and don't forget the Jimmy Hendrix.

Indeed.
Don't limit yourself to one genre. You'll get very few listeners.

Get something from all genres. Or at least a lot.
Rock, Pop, Hiphop, Rap, etc, etc.

Also, howabout you contact Brian, and ask if you can use NPF: Live?

Simple and it does it's job. Just ask Brian if he has any plans in this market, and if he's okay with it.

I do remember that one scene in 8-Bit Theatre where Fighter gets distracted during a story, and interjects about a sword guitar solo or something like that. Either a logo or possibly a name could work from there.

Why not broaden to all forms of aggresive rock?

This seems like a good idea. Power metal is great, but don't be afraid to throw in thrash (Slayer and Megadeth would be cool), death (COB, In Flames, Opeth), or prog (Dream Theater, Symphony X) metal into the mix.

Oh, and for power metal: Sonata Arctica and Stratovarius.

Add in some Metallica or Scorpions perhaps, and though it may not be your thing, some people might like some Motley Crue

Everyone loves Pink Floyd...like ass (or possibly in the ass). Bunch of pretentious gits.
