Brent felt something try to wrap itself around his wandering mind... but as soon as he realized what it was, he sat bolt upright and shook it off (literally; he shook his head vigorously as he focused on expelling the spirit). Unfortunately, a fair number of the other students had succumbed to possession, and were wreaking havoc - Brent ducked as a heavy book flew past where his head had been a moment ago.

Thankfully, someone had created a convenient escape route, which Brent watched Laurella get dragged through by... what was his name? Johnny? Whatever, it wasn't important, so long as the girl was safe.

What was important was that a possessed student much larger than Brent had just grabbed his arm to prevent him from escaping. "Unhand me, bear!" he demanded, despite knowing full welll that the guy wasn't going to listen.

"I'd get moving if I were you!"

"A moment, if you please!" Brent shouted back in irritation. Thinking quickly, he reached into his pocket for his deck of sigiled cards and pulled one out. Holding it up to his mouth, he whispered, "Shatter," and tossed it behind his captor.

CRASH!!

Startled, the student loosened his grip just enough for Brent to dash away and dive through the hole.

Duane was lounging in his classroom waiting for the bell to ring, when he heard the screams. A few moments later he got a message on his radio:
"Crestin here! What the fuck is going on?! We've apparently got hundreds of hostiles and most of them are about to be students at this school. I've got at least ONE Blood Summon demon. Reinforcements now."
He leaped at the radio, quickly relaying his reply. "This Gallcabair, I'll be there momentarily."

He ran out of the classroom, taking a timed bomb and a canister of tear gas out of his pocket.
As he tore down the hallway, a mob of possessed students came up to meet him. He charged at them head on, throwing his tear gas canister at the mob in front of him, allowing him to pass. The gas wouldn't hurt them, but would serve to incapacitate them for a while.

He followed the noises of destruction to where the Blood Summoned was. As he reached it he noted the positions of Elissa and Jared. Making sure to avoid them he pressed a button on the timed bomb and flung it at the Blood Summoned. He reached into his pockets, and took out two acid containers and hefted them.
"Did you ask for reinforcements Maem?" He asked as the bomb exploded with a roar.

Task sighed. They blew a hole in the wall? Teacher had some sort of super power towards demons? This was a bit over his head. But, he had to watch the girl, kinda, and he also had to get the fuck out of there.

Kings...Er...Task, leapt onto Mr. Silva's desk and bolted for the hole.

Though disturbed by the horrific goings on, TasK-ingscouldn't help but quip "I suppose we're not going to have any homework, huh?"

Krylo 04-17-2007 03:57 PM

"Hey, whatever the stories say about me I'm not a murderer," Jimmy retorted, as he set Laurella down on the other side of the hole and released his grip on the other kid, hopefully safe on some grass. "Though I do enjoy busting breaking things," he finished with a bit of a grin.

Turning toward the strange kid who had been chanting earlier Jimmy spoke, "You seem to have some idea of what the hell's going on, so lead the way."

Myst 04-17-2007 04:13 PM

Things were now moving too fast for Gael to keep up with. One moment there are just a bunch of possessed, the next the walls been blown open, the teachers manifesting...pretty boy powers, and a thug had run off with the mother of hell. This was well beyond anything he'd dealt with up to this point. Still, the mother of hell was his top priority.

Gael started towards the hole in the wall when a thought finally struck him I'm on the exact opposite side of the room. He started forward slowly, until it clicked that he was being left behind. "Like hell!" he shouted as he charged across the room, slashing at anyone who got too close to him, and running after the group with the mother of hell.

He arrived just in time to hear the thug asking the magic kid society? Who knows what was going on. Stopping next to them, he doubled over, panting, then finally sitting down on the grass.

Quote:

"...did I stutter, my students? Please leave. I will handle the riffraff."
Trish was still scoffing at the teacher's earlier claim of there being a 'safe place' nearby. So the Mother must have an organized group of student bodyguards, with a safe zone set up already. Good to know.

She kicked a rather tall boy who was currently trying to grab her, then leapt into the air as a garbage can skidded beneath her feet where she had been standing.

"Which one of you morons hurled the garbage can at me?!" She didn't expect a reply, and no volunteers took the credit.

One thing was for certain; she wasn't running off just yet. Heck, she didn't HAVE to-- she wasn't getting paid to watch the Mother. She was doing this on her own time.

"Sorry Mr. Silva, or whatever," Trish said crossly. She grabbed a flailing wrist and pulled, bending over and neatly flipping the student who owned the wrist over her back and onto the floor. "You just dismissed the class. Technically you aren't the boss of me anymore."

She straightened and jerked backwards as yet another punch sailed past her nose.

"Besides," she continued, leaping up onto another desk to avoid a swinging chair, "You just locked my brother in a hallway full of demons. You aren't giving me much reason to put my faith in the modern education system, what with the playing favorites and all."

She was a little worried about Troy being so outnumbered out there, but then, he did have the Inverse Ninja Rule going in his favor. And it wasn't like she could do much about it now, seeing as how Mr. Pretty Sub just magically sealed the door.

Trish kicked a plastic pencil case into the face of an attacking student and flipped backwards off the desk.

Mr.Bookworm 04-17-2007 04:33 PM

Josiah silently grinned as he won his game.

Then fell out of his chair from sheer shock as he felt the net burst from all of the demons pressing against it.

He grimaced, jumped back up, and grabbed his gun in his right hand, and his cane in his left.

That's when the door caved in, sliding across the room as a young man came barreling through the door.

The young man barked out "Who are you and what are you doing here? Be quick about it, your life hangs on your answer!"

Josiah glared at him. That was the Sigil of the Blood of Saints, conferring Knighthood, wasn't it? So he must be one of the Protectors. Which meant he couldn't just knock him out of the way. A shame.

"Young Knight, I am Josiah Martin, a Protecter. That is all you need to know. We have the same goal in mind, I suspect. So would you please step out of my way so I won't have to do it for you?

Astral Harmony 04-17-2007 04:45 PM

Laurella dusted herself off. "Looks pretty wild in there," she breathed. She looked at the textbook that she had received from Michael, wondering what exactly the glowing sigil was. Well, it was clearly meant to keep her safe, so she wasn't about to leave it anywhere. "I wonder if there is a safezone? The last time this happened, I think we just played it by ear."

Demetrius 04-17-2007 05:04 PM

Grinning slightly at the old man's quip about knocking him to the side, Harm relaxed, "You know a Knight when you see one, I'll take your word that we have the same goal for now. The reason I will do so is the blood summoned that is currently attacking at the school entrance." Harm stepped to the side and looked back at the man, his armor thickenning and gaining forbidding aspect "Join me if you will Josiah, I leave for the Hunt!"

As Harm ran he drove possessed students back by his mere presence, the artifacts he carried tended to make anything weaker than himself shy about confronting him. He stopped only long enough to grab his sword from the staff lockers, Looks like I'll need to keep this a bit handier in the future".

Cursing his poor planning Harm rounded a corner revealing the battle already begun, but Harm only saw one thing, a tentacled piece of nasty that shouldn't be here. Just then a small object flew slightly past the beast and blossomed into a cloud of fire and debris. With a mental roar, Harm blew the fire and smoke away from the hall, revealling the demon once more. "Bastard child of Abbadon, today you rejoin your master!".

Continuing his run Harm slammed his shoulder into the reeling demon, driving it brutally into the remains of a wall. Rolling back to his feet from his spearing move, Harm quickly shook his Sword from its sheath and prepared to hurl himself at the demon again.

Incendius 04-17-2007 05:37 PM

Incanting dual spells is usually hard, but when one is swimming in pain from a dislocated shoulder it does become considerably harder. This is why I hate being unprepared, any wards I do create can only remain up with concentration; and right now thats something I am seriously struggling for. Michael thought even as he murmured the trigger word to his own ward, one that would hopefully prevent himself from being assaulted as badly as he was again. A globule of soft golden light surounded Michael's forms; ever changing and morphing as a dancing fire.

With a grimace, Michael straightened himself and opened his eyes to the chaos that was the room. So that was what the explosion accomplished... Michael thought as he caught sight of the gaping hole in the wall. I see several protectors with her, and along with my spell I have confidence that they can escape this zone. I doubt in my current state that I could catch up or keep up well enough either. In addition, in these sorts of circumstances, there are usually controllers to these demons; human or else. If I can manage to keep up my incantation on Laurella, and secure this room, I will be able to suround myself with a fixed ward and then go to head off whoever is in control of this outbreak along with those remaining in the room. Stopping the flood at its source is a better tactic then building a wall to block it when its had chance to gain momentum and force.

Suddenly Michael felt a force exert itself against his magic. Glancing sideways Michael continued to recite his incantations as he saw his new opponent. Or one might say old opponent; the same demon who had dislocated his shoulder was back and attacking again now that Michael was no longer unconscious. What Michael had felt was the demon's punch sliding through the amorpheus ward. The demon looked very confused as it found itself still moving forward through the air, having not contacted anything. It almost tripped before righting itself and snarling bestially at Michael. It again charged Michael and again found itself sliding through the ward and continuing foreward based on its own momentum.

Through this Michael reached out and opened his miracously unharmed laptop. First things first, I can't concencrate or continue much longer with dual incantations, one is usually trouble enough. I need to draw up a ward that will be continuos for myself so I can concentrate on Laurella's ward and any new one's that will be needed, but first, I need to request aid. Michael drew up a program on his computer and typed out a sentence with his remaining hand. As he pressed enter a steady, loud male voice boomed from the computer's speakers. [b]"For those who are remaining, which of you will join me in stopping this demonic flood at its source?"

From there Michael continued the upkeep of his wards against the furious demon, and the unseen threats to Laurella. As he did this Michael searched through the folders in his computer and drew up a pre-written sigil.

A Huge Fricken Explosion OR Open Fire

Rob is pleasently surprised when he sees two big explosions near the demon, one being a chemical reaction, the other being... well... a guy with a sword exploading toward the demon. Ask and ye shall recieve, eh?

From this range, Rob was able to stay mostly out of the way of the other's attacks, save for a small amount of shrapenal which served as a reminder that he was still alive. Ow! I was already injured there.

Comfortable in the thought that he was not alone, Rob released a few arrows toward the demon, aimed as precisely as possible. I just hope they stick, those arrows have interesting presents attached to them.

As he tries his damnedest to annoy the crap out of the target, while planting his gifts in the demon's hide, Rob tries to account for who is present. Well, I definatly see the guy with the sword. But who the heck set us up the bomb? Damn I wish HQ would issue me one of those knifty radios.

Truce 04-17-2007 06:30 PM

It was rather impeccable timing. The demons had made their move, right after he had left. And what a move it was.

Even if someone couldn't sense a demon, the screams echoing out through the hall were enough to draw out anybody's attention - assuming they themselves were not caught up in it. Already, students and teachers from all corners of the school were probably wondering what was happening, and might come over to see for themselves - likely making the situation a whole lot worse than it already was.

People were going to get hurt. A lot of them.

That person who had been trying to interrogate him had already took off and, after glancing at the boy who had been coughing earlier, he ran off. "I'm sorry!" he said, but the fact of the matter was he couldn't be concerned with this person's well being at the moment - not over the safety of his classmates and his sister.

As soon as he rounded the corner, he caught sight of the battle between the protectors and the blood demon. Though he was concerned, he didn't have time to help them out, not right now.

Besides, he noted, turning yet another corner, there was the little detail of the possessed students, already spreading out in the school.

He couldn't see any protectors in the hallway, aside from the ones that were back there fighting the blood summoned. Naturally, that meant that he got the joy of handling all of them himself.

"Well," he said, raising his hands towards the mob. "I'm sorry about this, but you leave me with no choice."

And, with that, about about a dozen plushies suddenly popped into existence, spread out at the feet of the students. With rather maniacal laughter, they jumped into the air and exploded, sending a pale purple gas throughout the air.

It would only take a few seconds for most of them to succumb to the knock out gas - however, it wasn't meant to last long, even on a normal person. He guessed that he probably had five minutes, maybe less, before the stronger ones got up again - and it wasn't like he could exorcise them all in that period of time. He had to make it to the classroom and get to his sister before that.

Covering his own mouth and nose with his shirt, he ran through the group, not waiting for them to be knocked out. Reaching the door, he pulled as hard as he could on the handle...

...only to have it break off.

"You're kidding me."

Resisting the urge to scream in frustration, as it would have had him inhaling the gas and knocking himself out, he did the only thing he could do, and threw the handle at the door.

Mr.Bookworm 04-17-2007 06:47 PM

Josiah ran after the man, gasping for breath. Darn young whippersnappers.

Halfway there, three possessed ambushed him. A sonic detonation took care of the first two. A solid whack with his cane knocked out the third one. He quickly exorcised the demons, then ran towards the explosions. Goody.

He took a peek around the corner...

And was promptly met with a faceful of gas. Dammit.

He "sprinted" towards the unfolding fight, trying to keep from falling asleep.

He snapped out a speedy incantation, and was rewarded with the sight of a row of lockers stabbing the blood summoned and enfolding it in a solid wall of metal, which it promptly burst through. This, however, game him a second to cast a spell to clear out the gas. His mind and lungs cleared, and turned back to fight. He would have to have some words with the idiot who set off the knock-out gas.

When he turned, the blood summoned was hardly looking for the worse despite his attack.

"Dammit!"

He started incanting a fireball spell.

School

Jared just kind of crawled out of the way as the others laid into the blood-summoned. I’m not very much used against the ones that have already manifested, so I’d just get in the way.

As he looked down the hall, he saw the hordes of possessed students. This, however, is what I’m good at.

Jared flipped the blade out on the bottom of the staff, and slammed it into to the ground. He activated a shield around himself, and began his chant. He didn’t know if it was magic, or Latin…heck, for all he knew, he could have been swearing in fluent Japanese for all he knew.

All he knew was that it worked.

He yelled the final words, and all the possessing demons in who heard his voice were sent screaming back to Hell.

Unfortunately, given the general racket that the possessed make, compounded by the sounds of gunfire, battle cries, and blood-summoned demon howling coming from behind him, only a handful of demons were banished. The de-possessed students fell to the ground unconscious.

“Dang,” Jared muttered to himself, “it’s going to take forever at this rate.”

”Teachers and faculty, code red. Repeat, code red” the principle said over the PA system. Code red is what they do to go into a lockdown, Jared thought to himself, So they just told to the entire school to lock the…

…the entire school…

THE PA SYSTEM!

“Hey!” Jared said, turning back the way he came. “I’m heading to the office. Buy me about 10 minutes and I’ll have the entire school exorcised! Of course, that won’t work on that,” he said, pointing at the blood-summoned as he ran by, “but that should be easier to take care of if you don’t have to worry about a few hundred possessed students!”

In hindsight, maybe spouting the plan in front the demon wasn’t such a hot idea.

The blood-summoned extracted itself from the wall of spikes…say what you want about demons, they’re a hardly bunch. With a roar that sounded part death-cry, part scream, and part T-Rex, the creature shot out a tentacle at the young exorcist as he ran past. The tentacle hit Jared’s leg, and with the painfully audible crack of breaking bone, Jared went down with a scream. Two more tentacles shot up, and the demon pulled itself up into the decorative pillars of the common’s area. As it clamped onto the pillars with it’s claws, it let go with the of the pillars, and the two tentacles shot out with blinding speed at the Protectors fighting it.

Jared groaned on the floor, his leg bent at a painful angle, and the blood soaking into his jeans spoke of where the bone had broken through his skin. He tried to stand, but fell back down, biting back a curse of pain. There was no way he could make it to the office without help.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Warehouse

The demon howled in pain as the bullet struck home. It staggered to it’s feet again. A tentacle shot out, down the corridor where the cultist were. A strangled shout came from the room, followed by rather unhealthy sounding gurgling sound. The tentacle changed from it’s bluish hue to red, and as the red reached the demon, some of the wounds on it’s body began to heal. The thing glared in the direction that the sniper shot came from. One of the smaller tentacles on it’s back aimed in that direction, and stiffened. With a gush of hot liquid, the spike shot off…well, like a bullet. A bullet in the direction of that pesky sniper.

One problem solved, demon continued it’s pursuit of the other pests.

”Err…breaking news on the demon fighting front.” Tessa’s voice came over the radio, [i]” It looks like the demon just impaled one of it’s own guys, and drained him. I’m willing to bet it didn’t just do that for fun. We’ll put down the rest of the culties so it can’t do a repeat performance.”

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

School

Speaking of demons using blood to regenerate, the demon at the school decided it could use some patching up. It also decided that those possessed students would make a fine choice. Another tentacle shot down the hallway, looking for a likely target to drain.

Demetrius 04-17-2007 07:31 PM

GrahRR!! Attack!

Harm winced slightly at the sound of screeching metal as a set of lockers suddenly hurled into the beast, knocking it back yet again.

Not taking his eyes off the demon Harm shouted, "I'll try to hold this dog's attention, you come up with a plan!"

With that off his mind, Harm once more threw himself into the waiting tentacles of the beast. The demon had other plans. Ignoring Harm it began to attack everyone at once with it's tentacles!

Swearing, Harm sprinted forward and with an impossible leap landed on the beast's back, a back covered in tentacles! Cursing even more, Harm spotted two arrows lodged between the demon's shoulder blades...odd. At that moment another tentacle snagged Harm's leg, hurling him at the prone form of Jared.

"Crap."

Emmitting grating laughter, the demon tore into the unconscious students Jared had freed and began to make it's way down the hall toward the Mother's first period class.

Akamaz 04-17-2007 08:32 PM

Kase started chanting under his breath, with a flare the sigil activated, causing the bricks to raise and begin to put themselves back together. He turned to Laurella "I have a phone back in my bikes trunk...stupid school rules If we get there I can see about the possibility of a pickup for you, but we need to get going before they get outside

Inbred Chocobo 04-17-2007 09:09 PM

Another rocket went for the recovering demon, but this time the demon jumped to the side, and the rocket went sailing into the wall. The man shouted to Narzeal "Looks like you get to show me how much ass you kick."

Narzeal was taken a little aback by the statement, and as the demon charged, he had to ask "Why?"

"Because that was the last rocket. I've got something else, but I need a minute." The man replied, then he went into his van.

Narzeal would have replied with a comment along the lines of "Well crap." But he was too busy jumping back from the bite of the demon dog. Seems the beast was pissed off about being nearly killed, and wanted to share the feeling of it.

This time though the beast moved as fast and Narzeal could move, one clamp of his jaws nearly tore Narzeal in half, if he hadn't gone for the side. Narzeal swung in for a quick kill, but the beast just headbutted him, shoving him back quite a few feet.

Then one of those tentacles grabbed Narzeal as he flew back, but before the tentacle could do anything with its recent catch, Narzeal cut the sucker right off of him. Then Narzeal hit the ground like a lead balloon, since the beast just jumped at him, and would have torn his face off otherwise.

Narzeal struck upward as the beast sailed over, though this time he was just a second too late, and hit nothing but air. He was back on his feet in the next instant, staring down this beast again. It was a good thing, since the beast was charging again. This time when the beast went to consume Narzeal, Narzeal jumped towards the beast, using his left hand to shove himself up and above the bite.

Narzeal found himself flying into the thicket of the tentacles. He kicked up off the back of the head of the beast, and started cutting the slimy things off right at the base. He got quite a few of them when one knocked him off. In which he found himself hitting the ground with a thud.

Narzeal rolled to the left, avoiding the beast as it pounced and just barely got not killed. He rose slashing at it, and then found himself staring the beast down, though the beast looked a lot less threatening with only just a couple tentacles instead of what seemed like hundreds.

Mesden 04-17-2007 09:40 PM

Pow. Pow. Two bullets pistoned their way through the oncoming tentacle, blowing it away like two miniature hammers to a watermelon. Her draw was fast on the pistol, but it'd be all but futile to shoot the actual beast with it.

Goddamnit kid. she cursed the injury he had just taken. She fired another round, severing another tentacle that had stricken her young comrade.

112, 113, 114, there we go, 116! As soon as she found the locker she had removed the baton from her waist and struck the metal housing, bashing the container open to reveal her M-16...and several grenade-oriented attachments. With a quick grasp and twist, she was unloading a fury of metal projectiles at the beast while hastily loading the grenade into its launcher.

"Jared, move or shield yourself or Something! I'm about to take out most of the area that thing is in!"

All she could do was hope he heard her.

Astral Harmony 04-17-2007 10:17 PM

Laurella blinked. "So there's more to this than just possessed students, huh? I want to stay and make sure Stacey and the others are all right, but I can't get everything I want."

She sighed. "Very well. Let's get me the fuck out of here while we actually have a way out."

Sir Pinkleton 04-17-2007 10:47 PM

Jacob's rifle made a satisfactory click when he reloaded another clip into it, then he sprinted back to the previous room. He had left the wounded comrade with the other able soldier; he could still help out with the Blood-summon, even if he lacked the firepower. Coming down the hallway, he could hear alot of thumping from the room. 'I hope that's just the demon being thrown around...' Jacob thought.

He came to the open door and peered inside; A man with a shimmering, fiery sword was facing down the beast, and he was panting a little. Not surprising though, it's not easy going melee against a blood-summon. The demon appeared to have lost a few tentacles, which was good. If Tessa was right, then the tentacles were there for more than just scare tactics. There was more damage to the beast as well: it had a slash or two across its body, and the explosions from earlier didn't leave it completely unscathed.

Jacob was tired from all of the running and the combat, but he rose his gun up, aimed, breathed in, and fired at the beasts backside. It snarled in anger as the bullets sent small sprays of blood up into the air, but Jacob didn't let up. 'The less tentacles there are, the easier this gets'. He figured. Of coarse, now the beast had another target to attack, and Jacob wasn't nearly equipped enough to finsh him off. Not easily anyway. 'I hope we kill this damn thing' Jacob thought, 'Otherwise, this is going to hurt quite a bit.'

Loki, The Fallen 04-17-2007 11:05 PM

On the move again OR Full Nelson

There, looks like two have stuck to it, so I may have a fall back for later. Too many eyes on it now, would hurt more friendlies then I want. It’s too deep in the school for me to have a clear shot too. Wait… he’s still heading toward the Mother of Hell! Well, isn’t this just great? My only chance is probably to circle behind and make sure her exit is clear.

Rob threw away his Compound bow, now with no arrows in its quiver, snagged his recently acquired bat, and started running toward the end of the building.

So… a few million dollars in damages…a few hundred possessed students…a few hundred students injured by possessed students and demons…a bunch of secret Society plants fighting the forces of darkness in broad daylight… Rob absentmindedly swung at a charging possessed student. A random student with some broken ribs… dammit! Definitely normal, absolutely normal, the very definition of ‘normal’! Rob nearly made it to the end of the building before he heard some normal screaming. Rob grabbed his amulet and held it in front of him. AND YOU’RE NOT HELPING! I try to count on you for a few things, and what happens? I LOOK LIKE AN IDIOT! He thinks for a second, Those sounded like normal people screams…

Rob took a moment to lightly carve another simple glyph into his left hand. I have to get back inside, might as well help some people along the way. Rob threw one of his throwing knives through a window to the classroom the normal screams came from. He then ripped off his hood, called back the throwing knife and dove into the room, standing between a handful of possessed students and some normal ones cowering in the corner.

Rick pulled himself off the ground and in a voice slightly larger then Rob would ever use, There is no more ‘normal’ here. I have to get to her, so I don’t have time to play. There was a bright flash in front of Rick, blinding the possessed students. Rick pointed at the cowering un-possessed students. You! Out the window! Rick pointed his bat at the possessed students. You! He swung at them. Stay down!

Rick then proceeded to knock the possessed students back while the non-combatants escaped, recieving and administering more injuries then he really wanted to think about, none lethal, but all rather painful. As the last ones left, he opened the door and staggered into the hall.

Where is she?

Akamaz 04-17-2007 11:08 PM

Good, i won't have to argue with her Kase thought as he turned to head to his trike. "I don't like leaving any more than you do, but Nat would have my ass in a sling if anything happened to you." Thinking for a second he turned to the others and said "I've got room for two more if they're friendly, aside from that you'd need to find your own ride." He started towards the parking lot, thumbing the electronic ignition on his keychain.

Myst 04-17-2007 11:12 PM

Gael, having finally recovered his breath, stood back up and stretched, before turning to the Mother of Hell and bowing slightly, "Not a good time for intros, but I'm Gael Blanc, and I'll be guarding you during the escape."

Turning to the sigil mage (Kase, Gael nodded, "I'll go with you if that's alright. So where's this bike anyway?"
