vB code...

Over on the Adventuregamers.com forums, I've just been notified of the existance of the spoiler vB code. Since I couldn't find it in our vB listing, I'll assume that our board doesn't happen to have it.

So, I was thinking that whenever Pierre next upgrades the forums, he might want to consider adding this feature. I mean, the need doesn't come up all the often around here, but sometimes I could certainly use with a spoiler space feature.

Just anncoune the spoiler, then have the spoiler itself colored black.

We actually used to have that back on TWC. And yea, I guess it's not here because of the black background and what IHMN said. Would still be a nice addition though.

Actually, on the Adventuregamers.com forum, the background color doesn't matter. Basically, for the spoiler, the background is changed to white, as is the text. Normal background color is closer to what the Quick Reply box looks like...

Then that background probably isn't an option for the text on that forum; what I (and IHMN) meant was that here you can actually give your text the same color as the background is without the need for a spoiler tag.

Come to think of it, maybe it's even better without it, since it tends to make a really big box in your posts...

Here's a direct link to what the Spoiler tag looks like in action:

As you can see, the normal background is a tan color, but the spoiler is white, with white text. Even if you did something similar with a grey color, I don't see any problem with using something similar around here, at least from a visual perspective.

I can't comment on how hard it might be to program & add it to the existing system.

I like the spoiler tag idea. I've seen the text color change spoiler here and it works for normal people, except that for some reason, I like to highlight text while reading it, and I forget that there is a spoiler or I accidentally highlight too much and since the text now stands out since its a different color than the rest, my eyes read it without thinking and the game is spoiled for me.

So we have two options: change the way everybody does it just for me or I could get rid of my weird habit. I go for the former!

I see absolutely no reason for a spoiler tag... not like you couldn't accidently highlight the spoiler area while reading anyway. And look, this text is just as invisible as if we did use a spoiler tag... and if I really wanted I could make it size 1 too, so you'd have to select and copy paste it to be able to read it. So yah, color black is fine.

Meister 02-17-2004 04:35 AM

I for one can read size 1 just fine, at least on this forum (on VGCats, for example, it's something else). But krylo, you're a genius. That's probably the best way to explain and demonstrate the facts. *bows*

I can read the color black on these forums without having to highlight...
