The graphics processors on the Wii are not HD, plain and simple. They will still handly FF type applications handily, the difference is the ability to render in HD. That was one of the upgrades Nintendo decided not to weigh in on, which was a good choice if you ask me, letting HD and Bluray fight it out and then releasing products that support the winner (if there is one) is a good way not to waste massive amounts of money in R&D.

Azizien, do you own a Wii? The most troubles I have are in games like Madden, FF play style is mostly turn based and the instinctual controls of the Wii would be great, not to mention combo breakers and combo attacks that would be easily accessable without having to mash through the 2 analog stick, 2 button pads and L&R 1 and 2. In my opinion it would make the game a great deal more user friendly.

Sorry if I came across like a dick, there. I wasn't actually directing it at anyone. I've just known people who won't play really great, older games because they aren't visually impressive, and when they say "it looks too bad to be any good" it really pisses me off.

Dammit, well, there are other games to be exclusive and then not be down the road.

Well the only reason I said Playstation 2 is because the idea that any console can't turn out whatever graphics it wants is absurd.

The PS2 is the weakest of the consoles, and you even said yourself it pushes the graphic envelope every time. I fail to understand how the next Final Fantasy being on the graphically weakest console again is going to do much of anything.

Yes, it's the only next-gen console I still own, though I'm considering that 360 Elite once it comes out.

As for HD, that's a huge thing. The switch from normal to HD was as profound as from sprites to spindley little FF7 3D, to me.

This is a good point. I suppose it could still do good things, especially as the console gets older (and the developers know the ins and outs), in which case, even the Wii may be graphically impressive. But since all the information we have at this point is vague, I'd rather side with the one that will almost guaruntee to give me something, well, prettier. I think regardless of what the Wii may be capable of, the 360 will always be capable of delivering more in the horsepower category.

That's really all. I think FFXIII will still be damn impressive on the PS3, too, and worth getting on that console. But as an alternative, I'd choose the 360. Then, maybe, I'd settle for the Wii.

I'm thrilled with the idea of FF going multiplatform, mostly because I'm cheap and don't intend on buying more than one of these new generation systems.

Graphically wise, personally, while I do like a graphically pleasing game, If FF13 came out with the exact/slightly better graphic quality than FF12, I would be happy. I really don't think it's a "quality" issue at this point, and just a style issue. But I also think that HD TV is kind of silly so I may not be a good judge of whatever "graphic capabilities" that an HD TV can give.

Well, why bother even getting it for that console. I might as well not get a PS3 now, I can see every single RPG company jumping ship, including NIS.

Well, have you seen the difference before? I REALLY dislike how expensive HDTV is, I'm currently busting my poor student ass for all its worth to save up for one by maybe Christmas. That's the price for new technology...or something?

But when I saw the two side by side, I think my jaw actually lowered involuntarily.

Yes I have (anyone who's been in the electronic section of Walmart has). My roommate has a HDTV at home and a HDTV computer moniter. I guess it looks nicer, but not AMAZINGLY crazily awesome. At least not amazing enough worth all of the hype.

Also, this may sound sexist, but from the people I've talked to, it seems that guys are more impressed with things like HD and surround sound and stuff like that than girls are.

Azisien 04-23-2007 04:32 PM

It's true, I am drawn to pretty things that aren't technological... :D
