Microsoft vs. Nintendo.
It is stories like this that make me happy I work for the big "N", not the big "M" :
http://gonintendo.com/?p=16564#more-16564 anyone had similar horror "M" stories and successful "N" stories? |
Well it's not exactly the most impartial of sources I think....
And I'm still waiting for our SNES consoles to be shipped to us! |
heh, I still have my SNES in perfectly working condition I might add. Now THATS a product if it still works almost 20 years after its first release (and we got it in the good ole days when it was somewhat new (91-92). It was whatever year the Aladin game came out for the SNES.
EDIT: Also, wouldn't this belong in the Videogames forum? |
not really since it's more dealing with the companies, not any of their games directly.
And the site may be partial, but even than. I've been on the crap end of the Microsoft stick for a long time. Y'all remember when the Xbox came out with that recall on their first few batches because of the faulty DVD drive. It took me 6 months to get one from them to replace the one I -sent- to them, and I got one that was a refurb with the same drive. Another 3 months went by before I got one with the newer drive. 5 months in, that one overheated. By than I just gave up, bought a new one, and that one worked fine since. I had to get a Gameboy Advance SP replaced because the L button wouldn't work? (and this is before I ever worked there), I had a remanufactured one in my hands in 2 days. And they even waived the 5.00 shipping fee for me. 2 days compared to nearly 2 years. That's why I never call microsoft for anything anymore... |
I've had no problems with Microsoft thus far. I've managed to wang 2 free headsets out of them, and they got to my house within a few days.

Anyway on-topically, I've never had much experience with either company but I've always heard of Nintendo having exemplary customer service. Good about replacing broken DS units, that sort of thing. |
All of my Nintendo systems still work fine, from the NES(around 20 years old) to my Wii.
My XBOX, on the other hand? I've had that for about 3-4 years, and it No Longer Produces Colour. That's right. Completely black and white. |
Man my commodore c64 still works. Go commodore!
As for on topic, my old gameboy still works despite being run over at least twice and being thrown in a river. That's pretty hard out. Though I don't have any microsoft products to compare it to. |
I still have my SNES hooked up in my room, and it still works excellently--I've never had a single problem with it that I couldn't conclusively trace to a malfunctioning cartridge (which happens from time to time because a lot of my games are used) or possibly dust (I live somewhere naturally rather dry and dusty, and the SNES is close to a window). I don't remember exactly when I got this console, but it came new with a special offer of I think Mario Paint and Super Mario All-Stars (I also got Super Mario World, but I dunno if that was part of the offer. If it was, that was a friggin' sweet offer.) And, speaking of Mario Paint, I've never had a problem with any of the controllers or the SNES Mouse giving out either, altho' I've subjected them to all manner of heavy use for years and years (including, um, taking one apart so I could experiment with some glitches for Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past).
Not to be too shamelessly fannish, but a console that can stand up to that kind of use and run as well as the day it came out of the box is a pretty fine console. |
Yea, great times with nintendo, any all consoles we have nintedo related, mine or otherwise, have yet to break down, despit our purposful abuse oft them. Heck, I still thouroughly enjoy playing my aunts n64 and snes. Woot go nintendo.
P.S. Spell check isn't workin'. |
