MS Word 2003 help
Anyone familiar enought with microsoft word 2003 to tell me if it is possible to make a form letter, where you can just change certain fields on the letter to make it fit?
the reason i'm asking is my boss is looking for some assistance with a project regarding this specific thing (making letters that would allow us to just input a field for the persons name ECT. any help would be appreciated. |
So you're looking for a template? I don't have a huge amount of experience with Word, but looking for a template is likely to help you more than your...lengthy...description.
Good luck, and remember, the Microsoft website is likely to have one, even if your computer doesn't! :) |
I'm fairly sure there's something that you're looking for in "tools" and with some sort of "wizard."
Granted, I haven't touched 2003 since my high school typing class. The vagueness is because I can't remember the names of either of them. |
I'd suggest using Open office to do what you're talking about- it lets you set editable ranges and print to PDF files, which lets you have a 'specific fill-outable' area for names, numbers, etc.
I don't remember how to use word 2003. |

So if you're looking for cross-compatibilities, you'd best choose something else like Star Office (Which is what Open Office is based off of.) |
From the sounds of it you are looking for Mail Merge. I'm not much of a guidance writer but a quick googling reveals a few online tutorials.
Official mIcrosoft site PDF file explaining how to do mail merge |
iyeru, getting spell checking features with Open Office.org is extremely easy, so I wouldn't count that against it. There's a wizard within the program that lets you select them.

Oh, my bad. Sorry.
Although, just for the record, I've never trusted Word for grammar checking. Some recommended changes were handy, but it got too intrusive for my tastes. I ended up disabling it long before I got Open Office. |

I have it on all the time, as it helps me on practice with English. I've self-taught myself most English standards because of it, and I usually use good grammar and spelling when I talk on boards, IMs, etc. Unlike most people do with all of the Internet jargon nowadays. :shifty: |
