The Hilarity of Todd Goldman

Heh, maybe this will get another one of those letters from Todd Goldman. Sorry if that happens and if you find it necessary, go ahead and delete this thread. Anyways, my own personal commentary on this subject is this:

OMFG!!!!! This is fucking hilarious!!!! This guy got caught with his pants down and is now being appropriately reamed. Seriously, a lot of people think he has the money to take the fallout from this but due to his less than diplomatic responses, I don't think that is very true. Also, with his ruined "artistic" rep (note the copy and paste work on the clipart images) I don't think he will be featured in many art galleries, nor will he be backed by many companies, since he has kind of cemented himself as a dangerous associate due to his numerous copyright infringement possibilities. Anyways, discuss.

(Also, notice the possible Absolut case. *Giggles with glee*)

He's already being dropped from online galleries in light of recent allegations, at least until things are cleared up. But, given recent findings by the goons over at SomethingAwful, I doubt they will be.

Phlegyas 04-26-2007 12:52 AM

Heh, thank you much. I found a link I've been looking for that substantiated the allegations that Todd called Dave a pedophile.

Wikipedia talk is currently discussing how to professionally flay him alive.

Not only that but the whistle has been blown at slashdot, here, with a small piece saying
Quote:

Goldman has now threatened to sue the Web page that pointed out the apparent theft to the world.
The page in question that they are referring to is found in the above link.

I've also read up on the campaign against Todd's controversial Boys are stupid... line has been pulled from a very large number of stores from more than twenty-two states and rising. These are some BIG store chains too. The man spearheading the campaign is Glenn Sacks and from what I'm seeing he's doing a damn fine job at stickin' it to Todd. Link here.

Keenspot also put out a blurb picture link and considering how big keenspot is...yeah..methinks you people can make the connection there.

Also, just found this gem of a page with Todd's legal representative saying this in regards to Todd's situation:
Quote:

"We have acquired articles posted on your website which contain defaming, derogatory and malicious statements about Mr. Goldman. Therefore, we request that you immediately remove these article from your website, as well as any subsequent articles and/or URL links of this nature regarding Mr. Goldman. Further, the hosting of such statements and/or URL links about Mr. Goldman is actionable defamation and libel that has caused irreversible damage to his character."
Sorry Mr. Legalman, Todd is apparently more than capable of doing irreversible damage to himself.

So in a nutshell: the man is proper fucked. He's beyond redemption, considering how many galleries and clothing stores are refusing to touch anything from Todd and his knack for making the situation worse for himself...yeah...he's done for.

From an artist's point of view the man deserves everything that is happening to him. Art theft is pretty much the art world's version of spitting in the Pope's eye on easter mass.

Heh, if I had some disposable money, I would definitely buy that "Image Stolen by Todd Goldman" shirt. That's just classic. My only dissatisfaction is that he might not go bankrupt because of the fallout and would just lose his business. Here's for hoping the Absolut suit pans out. *crosses fingers*

Tyrazial 04-26-2007 08:33 AM

So apparently I missed a link discussing this but my question is: What did he do, exactly?

Phlegyas 04-26-2007 09:20 AM

Oh heh... yeah... sorry about that. Should have posted a link. This should be a good start. After that, just follow the trail. You will have to kind of figure out a lot of it, because this Todd guy has gone on a crusade to eliminate most of the original articles on the subject.

The funny thing is that he seems to be trying to threaten the entire internet with a lawsuit at this point. It seems that every place that starts talking about this gets a letter from Mr. Goldman's lawyers, saying 'Stop, take that down, or prepare to be sued!' As if that could save him at this point.

Too bad freedom of information act + freedom of speech + freedom of the press = he's humped.
