Hells yeah... Can't wait. Just wondering on your ideas, general opinions, and hopeful pipe dreams. I personlay want another Fire Emblem character. And some more random kickass stuff. I'll update win I get some more info... most imporatantly a release date for the countdown.

I would like a Count Bleck/Tippi character. Super Paper Mario was awesome.
And Young Link again.

I don't think they'll be taking out anyone from Melee.

I'm hoping that they'll make up their minds and put Sonic in. All the newcomers are awesome too, save Wario.

Things I want, more Pikmin, Ganondorf as his own character not a clone, Ganon as a broken SNK style superboss banned from all comps but really cool and hard to fight and harder to acquire, a Belmont preferably Simon(though I'd be willing to have young Julius if the game comes out post a DS Castlevania 1999) and Liquid as a clone of Solid. The voice man, the motherfucking voice.

Character specific item abilities (eg Mario gets better attacks with the fire flower, Fox can dual wield his own blaster with the pickup one so on)

I wouldn't mind someone from the Final Fantasy series. Or a moogle. A moogle character would be AWESOME.

That only allows for characters up until Final Fantasy VI. Anything higher is from SONY. I think we could really use Puffy from Star Ocean on the GBC.

Then a moogle would still work.

In Melee I use Link, Dr. Mario, Zelda (without, might I add, transforming into Sheik. Fear the toe.), Captain Falcon, and occasionally Roy and Bowser.

I'm looking forward to Brawl, but I seriously hope that Mega Man is in it. And I am going to fucking Mega Buster the first person who says that he'd be a Samus clone.

Actually, the developers have made statements about removing the clones altogether. Maybe not the characters specifically, but they won't have the same movesets. Also, you can expect one of the current FE to be taken out and replaced one of the more current ones, possible the one from the GCN. I beleive they hinted at Game and Watch being taken out along with Mewtwo, Pichu, and Young Link. They considered Ice Climbers but thought better of it. And thats really all I got.

Well duh. He'd be a Kirby clone.:p

Samus can't charge three levels for one thing. Also, what 3D Megaman would you prefer? Original? Or Megaman Legends Style?

Nothing has been confirmed yet - there was one story on 1up that was completely unconfirmed and contrived.

Rumor mill says they're going to Luigitize what clones aren't removed. Methinks Pichu and Young Link are goners, but they can probably do fun stuff with Roy. At least I hope so.

Yeah I pay pretty close attention to game news about my fighting games. Brawl and Guilty Gear especially.

EDIT: Anything, provided it's Mega Man. Asking for Mega Man X would be a pretty tall order, but be damned if I don't want him and Zero in.

They should put in Alucard, and maybe some RE characters. Possibly Krauser, Nemesis, Leon, or Jill.

I'm a guessin young link, pichu, and perhaps dr. mario as being dropped. I almost positive Roy will be, due to being a promotional character for FE6(He wasn't great in his own game>.>).I want Ganony with his pimp sword of awsome, another FE char, perferebley Hector or some other non-sword lord. We got enough sword action. And for the third-party, a FF char would be great, but legands mega man or zero with his saber would run circles around sonic. Oh, and moggles might make for an intresting item...

There are only two people I want in the game.

Geno and Crono. Ironically, I want Geno more then Crono.

I do know that in SSB: Melee, we could have used less Mario. I mean really, do we need Dr Mario.

Not if Dr. Mario could use a cure spell.

I want a Midna character! I don't know what she would do exactly, but I think she would be cool to have.

Also, I hope they don't get rid of too many characters. Even if they are clones, I quite enjoyed Roy, Pichu, and Young Link. Oh yes, and I pray they don't get rid of Ness. I know he's not that well known of a character to these young gamers, but I like him alot.

I sure hope not either, come on... he has the bat without even getting the bat!

I've got a feeling that Midna's Imp form coming out of Link's shadow and doing something insulting will be his taunt myself.

It would sure be better than his other taunts.

Does anyone know if anymore information has been released anywhere about new characters and the like? It seems like the only hints we have are the E3 trailer and a couple statements claiming Sonic will not be included.

Ness is very very very safe. This game is developed in japan, and over there Mother is giynormic. Ness is more or less heralded as the best hero from the whole game series, and if anything there's a better chance of Lucas getting into Brawl as a Ness companion.

There's a rumour that Ridley might be getting in. Makes sense to me - if you want more representation from Metroid, there's fairly limited options.

I am hoping they implement a costume system - it would be a good way to preserve some of the near clones (Dr Mario for example). Could affect the appearance of attacks too. They could even keep the mechanical differences if they wanted to.

Other clones will likely be modified or dropped. I'm sure Ganondorf will be getting a big makeover. Differences between Fox and Falco will probably be accentuated a bit too. Young Link might actually get changed to the Wind Waker Link.

On characters likely to be dropped, I think its most likely to be Dr Mario, Pichu and Roy. They're all clones and none seem to be especially iconic.

I am wondering what they'll be doing with Zelda. Shiek only appears in Ocarina of Time after all. Same with Zero Suit Samus. Is it going to be a transformation like Zelda/Shiek, something conditional or a separate character? The preview trailer suggests to me that it happens when you use Samus' brawl move. I think I might prefer it if she was a separate character though.

Wouldn't hurt, Marth and Roy being clones of each other is...annoying. And since I doubt any non-Lord type will make it in...if any FEs are added it would/should be Eliwood, Hector, Lyn, Erika, Ephraim or Ike.

Hoping for Lyn myself, but I like them all. Long as they aren't another Marth/Roy type clone anyway. :sweatdrop

Edit: as long as they keep in Peach, I will be happy. Her slaps are fun...and her frying pan is more fun still.

I lurve Kirby. He's my favorite character to use.

I hate Yoshi, I can't get the hang of his controls and moves.

Personally, I think SSBB should have an online mode. Yes, maybe the game would be delayed to come out by the next year or by the end of the year, but it would be worth it at the end, just like in the same case LOZ: Twilight Princess had.

Yes, many people might disagree with this idea, but many people want this game to be online, and if they want SSBB to be online, then they will have to wait no matter what. Also, check this post sdhonda, a friend of mine, did regarding SSBB having an online mode.

I have no idea how it'd work, but I've been playing Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 a bit and was thinking: what if there was a tag battle mode? I'm not thinking of this as a mandatory part of gameplay by any means, but more like the Coin Battle where it's there for kicks just because. Lemme tell ya, though four fighting at once is cool I've had many an intense 2-on-2 tag battle in DoA, and it was awesome. What do you guys think?

Brawl will be out this year in Japan.

Here's something else that'll stir up the anticipation.

The Smash Brothers official site has changed.

Admittedly, it's just saying that the new site will be launched in 7 days. Still, I wonder what we'll see there once the time is up.

The potential new news makes me extremely glad I don't go to SmashWorld anymore.

Sure, they could release new information. But why bother making a week-long announcement that there's going to be a new site? Methinks it's just a hype charger.

Either new updates of the game, videos, or information about the launch. Who knows what will be on the site once it is re-launched. I think that the members of Gamefaqs (including sdhonda, which is the mayor person waiting for it and one of my friends there) will go nuts once it is re-launched, like now. For example, when people started to say that Cloud was going to be in the game. I laughed hard when I heard that.

Am I a bad person for liking the original Super Smash Bros. more than the melee version? It's novel quirkiness led to some incredibly hilarious happenstance. In melee I felt too much concern over proper control and did not spend enough time pausing the game because we were all laughing too hard to continue.

Samus still wins it all.

CJ: I was also thinking a Midna character would be cool. I don't think she's been around long enough to be included, however.

I'm just crossing my fingers that they keep Zelda and that she's as awesome in Brawl. >_>

It's 100% impossible that she might appear as a playable character, however, she can be just a cameo on one of Link's stages, just like on SSBM where the moon and the 4 giants were cameos of the "Termina Bay" stage.

The character I want to see the most is Geno, the "possesed" puppet from Super Mario RPG. Just imagine, 999% damage with just one Geno whirl...

Not really. "Whatever floats on your boat" just like some people say. You can like any games you like, but personally, Melee beats the first one in my own view, although I like Master Hand's design from back on the N64.

New site's up. The most impressive stuff on the site is the pictures of Link and Mario's health bars, and the music.

However, Masato Sakurai is going to be updating the website personally from now on. Finally, something.

Surprisingly, Nobuo Uematsu isn't listed as a composer, even though he composed that one song a few months back...

But with so many contributors... you can't really go wrong! I just hope they actually do update more often. I wouldn't mind a release date either. Hell, ANYTHING goes, dammit!

I'm hoping for Midna as a playable character. I would enjoy Paper Mario, also. Midna's definitely the highest on my list though.

I'm just hoping that Masaaki Iwasaki's appearance means we get Lucas or Poo or something. Just any sort of Earthbound/Mother lovin.

Keep dreaming. The only thing you will see about her is either being a stage camoeo or a trophy, because Nintendo isn't planning on making her a playable character. That said, she might be ending up as a clone character if it is there and if not, it would still be hard to choose an appropiate moveset for her.

And apparently, the site will be updated five times a week. Excelente.

Did I see Yasunori Mitsuda AND Yoko Shimomura in that list? Oh god... I need new pants.

DP: Yeah, I was gonna say... not including Midna would be understandable, but Zelda/Sheik, I think, is one of the more popular characters, and I don't see why they wouldn't include her.

Well, the current Link design is taken from the Twilight Princess, so it's not entirely impossible to believe that we'll see Midna as Link's taunt or something like that. Possible she could be a seperate item altogether, but I think the taunt is more likely.

If Midna was to be in the game, she would most likely be riding Wolf Link. While having Midna fighting solo would probably never happen, I could easily see Wolf Link being included in the game. There are plenty of things done in Twilight Princess that could easily be transfered to Smash Brothers moves. For example:
Grab- Midna's hand, kind of like Samus
Up B- Teleport
B- Chargeable, Link attacks everyone in a certain area.
I'm sure there are a lot more things that they can do with Wolf Link and Midna.

I'd personnally like to see Banjo and Kazooie as playable characters in this game. They have a wide range of movesets and have many items at their disposition.
Plus, maybe Banjo could fly for a limited time since Kazooie is in his backpack...

They've been my favorite nintendo characters ever since childhood including Mario and Link.

As cool as Banjo and Kazooie would be, it will never happen due to Rare being Bought by Microsoft. The next Banjo Kazooie game is being made for the Xbox 360, not the Wii. I would of loved to see them in it too.

If Rare is bought by Microsoft, then how come Donkey Kong was in the first two SSBs? And will he appear in SSBB too?

DK does not belong to Rare, however it gets a little more complicated when it comes to Diddy, Dixie, etc. The way I understand it is, Nintendo owns the characters, and Rare owns the game settings. Which honestly, just confuses the hell out of me.

What do you guys think about that sticky bomb? Not super news, but its great to know that the new items are gonna have some flair.

Microsoft bought Rare soon after the Gamecube came out. Both Smash Brothers games were out by the time the sale was announced. Donkey Kong was originally made by Nintendo, so it is very unlikely that they will not include him in Brawl.

The sticky bomb looks pretty cool. I want to see it in a video rather than just screenshots, but I guess we can't be too picky.

That and the fact DK is entirely Nintendo owned(he was the villain of the first Mario remember? Well he was called DK when Mario was Jumpman so he kinda predates Mario in a way), and they're still making DK games. Hell even the Kremlings are Nintendo, anyone else notice the KlapTraps in Yoshi's Island 2? Also DK King of Swing had the family and the Kremlings. Basically DK universe, all Nintendo, or Rare lets them use the baddies and settings with impunity.

Banjo Kazooie, Sabrewulf, Conker, Jet Force, Blast Corps and Perfect Dark are Rare's.

But DAMNIT, I would love another game like Conker's Bad Fur Day.

From what I have been able to gather from interviews, Ness will probably not be in this game (/cry), however we will be getting Lucas, the hero of Mother 3.

Apparently Lucas was supposed to be in Melee, but since Mother 3 was pushed back they opted for Ness instead.

If you're getting your information from your "Awesome Inside Source," Okay then we're going to take it with a grain of salt, but 'interview' hardly counts.

No need to get huffy man, I just meant in a previous interview the creator said that Ness wasn't supposed to be in Melee, Lucas was.

That says to me Ness will probably get cut, and if a Mother character makes the grade it will probably be Lucas.

Just a view of mine. Even the Brawl board thinks that Midna will end up being a cameo and not a playable character because of the moveset she might have or how her battle style will be in the battlefield. Either way, there still might be a chance, but a very. Little. Chance.

And as for the people who want Banjo and Conker in the game, it might be also impossible because it doesn't fit on the SSBB universe, but seeing that Kojima made Snake to be in the game, there might still be a chance, seeing that both Banjo games and some Conker games were on Nintendo's consoles before Microsoft bought Rare. Therefore, it might be possible, but we will see soon...

And personally, it would be great if one of the characters from Golden Sun was in the game, at least two of them, like Felix and Isaac. If Fire Emblem characters made it on SSBM, then it might be possible GS characters also appear.

I've heard nothing about them removing Ness.

I also can't totally confirm/deny the removal of Roy.

Roy is great. They shouldn't give him the axe yet, just declone him.

And two characters I would think they would be great to remove would be Pichu and Dr. Mario, seeing that Pichu damages himself with each attack and the doctor isn't any different from Mario. If you say Jigglypuff should be removed, screw you. She is great to battle with if you know how to use her.

jiggly is my personal favourite.

Curses, no Lyn or Ike...oh well, I never expected it to happen anyway.

Still, I intend to pray and wish that some act of...something, will cause at least one of them to pop in.

Pheonix... Roy is most likely getting axed, as he was used to promot FE6. I think I stated that already, of well.

Itoi hasn't said anything about the game yet. And unless I miss my guess, he never will either.

I think Ness is safe, because he's a veteran, and if they need to do anything they can just Luigitize him (Make him unique through major movelist/physics tweaking) to make Lucas.

Ness+Lucas would seriously make me happy, the world needs more of anything-EB/Mother related.

Still, it would be great he was still in the game, but there might be a chance, and I mean a big one, that he gets replaced by another FE character, like Ike. Either way, I will still cross my fingers. And someone on the thread already posted the site, but I knew it thanks to the people at Gamefaqs and Sdhonda, the "Threadmeister".

And it seems Nintendo has already confirmed Bowser in the game thanks to a video one of the people there posted. Here it is!

Even the people of Gamefaqs "Rickroll" people with that prank video, and I felt for it twice until now(once with a comment that Geno would be on the game, and the second with Bowser confirmed to be in the game again). Sorry again, I just couldn't resist, it won't happen again...

And you guys should check the most recent post Sakurai made on the website. Pit looks like it's going to be a great character but a tad hard to control at the beggining.
