Quest 64
Do any of you remember a game called...... oooooh I don't know, QUEST 64?!
http://content.answers.com/main/cont...uest64_big.jpg Pffft. This game sucked ASS. It was not worth the 50 bucks or whatever N64 games cost back then. The storyline was linear and cliche. In fact, there really was no story line. Basically you had to get from point A to point B. Every map was the same, deal: point A to point B. Here's what one of the dungeon maps looked like: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Nebu...orFortress.gif *Not by me. Can you say le suck? This game was absolute trash, and Nintendo hyped it all up because it was N64's first RPG. Woooooooooo. It came out after FF7 and sucked sooo bad in comparison. To give you a measure of how bad it sucked, you couldn't even BUY THINGS in quest. people gave you bread and shit that healed you and u had to hoard it all because you knew you would need it for the final battle. I don't know why I made this, I just suddenly remembered how shitty that game was. I wasted several hours of my life playing it, although I use that word cautiously. I wouldn't say I "played" it, and I'm not even sure I would call it a "game." Games are fun. This was a pile of suck. That is all. You may resume your happy life, now. |
This has been a public service announcement?

Hahaha! Yes, you are right! Even Wild Arms made that game look bad (Even though it has a lot of misspellings and cheesy graphics, but other than that, the game is rather enjoyable).
And I recall there was a sequel on the Game Boy Color, but in my opinion, it was even worse than the Nintendo 64 one. That game gave me a scar it took me long to forget. |
I actually got stuck at one point where there was this underwater boss. I was like 15 levels to low to kill her and I had run out of any healing items what so ever. So I ended up spending like 36-48 hours of actual play time leveling in the same 20 feet of map before I could finally scrape by and finish the game. That really sucked.

Ugh, I think I still have that game.
If memory serves, I'm fairly sure there was a gameboy color game called "Brian's Journey" (might have been Brian's Adventure, but I think it was the other one,) and that was the exact same damn game as Quest 64, with 8-bit graphics. I'm pretty sure the little smoke puff things you had to gather to gain more powers were in the same general places, too. Interestingly enough, it made a rather good Gameboy game, (as portable gaming was fairly simple back then, so it's super linear gameplay and such were to be expected.) But as an N64 game.... not so much. |
What annoyed me was how weak the wind spells were in comparison to the others. I never owned this game, but I had a friend who rented it constantly.
|
I remember seeing this game pre-owned in some store, I can't remember which. My friend was dead-set on buying it, just because it was an RPG. I tried so very hard to convince him not to, but he bought it anyway. Then he played it, and I was able to give one of the sweetest "I told you so"s to date.

I remember this game. I beat it, it was... decent-ish sorta. I remember the only reason I rented it was becasue I hasd just played First Mage and was desperate for another RPG, and lacking a Sony console, I had the choice of that, or... umm... yeeah, Nintendo sucks for RPGs.

I want to beat this game, because I have it within my collection and it taunts me. It is boring. It takes forever. I can't change the camera angle, so I haven't the foggiest where I am going, so I get lost on even a "linear" game.
I'm freakin' Blackbelt at this game! Y'know the first boss and dungeon? The forest? I got stuck in there for days! I'd be walking somewhere, and get in battle, and then once battle's over I'd not have a clue which way I was going before because I'm now facing which way I was going before the battle started. However, there was one thing I loved about the system, was it's random battle thingy. Instead of standing still and choosing from a list of things to do, you actually had to walk up to a guy and whack'em. If someone could take this basic idea, speed it up, and add more attacks than a stupid staff, I could see it in a good rpg. |
Oh man, I used to love this game. I think I still have it somewhere. I'm going to go look for it.
