The incredible ugliness of Cecil... good lord he's ugly... detracted me from seeing that Tellah, Rydia and the octopus actually looked really good. Interesting camera angle too (import FF12's battle system please!).
What I liked about FF4 is that it seemed to be the hardest FF game that I've played. Something about the level designs and monster stats just forced me to be extra careful about how I used and protected my characters for fear of running out of resources.
If FF3 DS is any indication, FF4 DS will be a walk in the park.

Yeah, the dungeons in FF4 were long, plus, at least in hardtype, the battles were grueling. I liked to set the battle speed to 1, in that case, if you got a preemptive strike, you had a chance to squeeze off one attack before the enemies started attacking. It was great. I especially loved the final dungoen; exceptionally long, hard, and full of bosses. The way a final dungeon should be.

In-game Cecil reminds me of Alastor from Viewtiful Joe minus the cel-shading.

Makes me wanna puke. Ugh.

So they're devoting what I assume would be quite a lot of man-hours of effort to releasing FFIV again (I mean, good Lord, how many different releases has this game seen? I count three off the top of my head already if you count the original SNES release) when they have so many other wonderful games they could reintroduce (or bring over from Japan) to the gaming public? I mean, they could be using this time for

Chrono Trigger
Soul Blazer
Illusion of Gaia
Terranigma
Chrono Trigger
Treasure of the Rudras
Treasure Hunter G*
E.V.O. The Search for Eden
Chrono fucking Trigger

--and that's really just a partial list, from games I have been fortunate enough to experience myself, from just one console. They're overlooking all these wonderful games for another fucking version of FFIV? I call this a case of "too much of a good thing".

*edit: Okay, according to GameFAQs, this game was actually developed by a company called Sting, but released by SquareSoft. I do remember reading that it was the last game Square gave Nintendo before they started to make games for Sony.

The dungeons from FF4 were not only long, but you got into battles EVERY THREE STEPS!
