Can you make this an actual video game?
I was wondering, is there any way to turn 8-bit theater into a real video game? Cause I'd buy that.

It's called Final Fantasy 1. He's using stuff taken that game (Under the fair use clause) for use in his comics. while the comic itself is Brian's deal, the base for the entire game and comic would be Squareenix's deal.
Fenris-edit: Totally beat you to the punch. Flare-Edit: Mine was more clear. Yours was a picture. :) Work better togeather. |
Well, I think what he means to ask is would there be a way to turn the 8BT aspects that are straight out of the mind of Brian Clevinger into a video game, in which case a fair amount of ROM-hacking of the first three FF games would be in order.
Because, you know, I can't for the life of me recall the hadoken being present in FF1. That sort of thing. |
Weren't some people actually trying to do this, forever ago?
|
Yeah, Jared Todd led a project to get up an 8bit RPG, I don't think it really ever went anywhere though. Not enough interest.
Edit: Linky Edit2: Why the fuck is that in red? Who's been screwing with my posts? |
You could always try making it yourself with RPG Maker, but that'd take ages.
|
Yeah, thats what Jared Todd did. That might have something to do with why it didn't work out.
If you are really interested, I'd contact him. I'm sure there are many people here who would like to see an *bit game, even if they might not have the time or resources to work on it. |
So then, I was about to call Fifth a fucking idiot because it's months ago, and it's been tried at least 8 times, but then I remembered he was a mod, so I decided not to.
and isn't this thread a little, like, vague? "Can you make this an actualy video game?". But oh well. I'm not complaining. But yeah, no, it can't be done. There's someone hunting anyone that openly confesses they're making a game. We lost countless members of the forums, I had 3 deaths of real life people.. I don't know what's up, but I wouldn't try it. and, Jack, you can screw yourself for telling me about this thread, I would've found it anyway. Weeh..!! *backflips off* |
Why is everyone looking at me? *Tosses aside sniper rifle*
And I might be wrong, but I beleve that it's because Brian doesn't make any money off of the comic that uses Square's material (The hand-drawn stuff he sells on his merchindice doesn't count as it wasn't made by Squarenix.) If there was a game to be made, it'd have to be Public Domain, and given away, and most game developers would sink a lot of money and time into a game to make it playable. Jared can attest to it, right? |
