Episode 386: "I live for the noise!"

Though you don't see much in the comic, it sounds as if Fighter is at least holding his own against the Lich, if not winning. Look at the bone...not really connected to anything, of course that could just be laziness, plus for the first time Thief and Red Mage actually look toward the battle and don't at all seem concerned for the safety of Fighter.

Also, "Wow. I'm not dangerously incompetent!"...that, frickin' GENIUS!

Yeah, Well I'm not too concerned about fighter myself. With all the times Black Mage has tryed to kill him, I'm almost certain that he's too thick headed to die, I get the feeling his body just doesn't get the concept.

the title, that's what I say all the time! and things like it. I just don't usually mean clank!

Outbounder 02-19-2004 02:35 AM

Oh, is fighter supposed to have hit Lich in that panel? I thought Lich was using a bone like a club or something.

Good old Terry Pratchett had something written about a character in his books. It was to the effect that said character was just so oblivious to misfortune that misfortune got fed up and went away. This may also be true of fighter and death.

AUTHOR: Let's just say that Megaman has the extraordinary ability to not recognize life-threatening injuries.
GEORGE: In other words, he's too stupid to die?
AUTHOR: Um...
(-Bob & George)

I think the same can be said of Fighter.

There's also the fact that the LW almost NEVER fight in unison. :\

I just have this feeling that when :bmage: wakes up, something BIG is going to happen. Like, beyond another hadoken, game over. Something important.

DasPitchfork 02-19-2004 04:27 AM

I'm also hoping for a *big* Black Mage moment once he wakes up. Like I've said before, it's time he stopped talking big and showed us what he can do. Besides, he's probably the only one with enough firepower to stop Lich.

Edit: It doesn't seem to me like Fighter's doing very well. I figure that the "CLANK" from him hitting Lich is sort of like a louder variation of the "tink" we hear when BM stabs Fighter.

"What part of being stabbed do you not understand?" I love that line. Hopefully RM isn't incompetent for once and somehow saves BM.

userpie 02-19-2004 08:31 AM

That's right, why else would it show young BM stabbing young Fighter...with a tink...Clank is a louder tink...now Fighter will die.

Rodimus 02-19-2004 08:52 AM

maby you are looking at it in the wrong way, maby the clank is because someone obviously alot more physically strong the BM is Hitting Fighter. hence the louder version of tink. Maby BM will get healed and finnally get up turn around and see Fighter there fighting lich, he screams damnit and fires a hadoken at the battle big boom! A slightly senged fighter stands there with great glee screaming you're alive BM! while the lich king lays on the ground down for the count. Look of shock comes over bm's face fighter thanks him for saving him bm starts screaming that he was trying to kill him. Fighter locks him in a death grip hug and BM pulls his knife out and we see little tink tink tinks :D
