New Transformers trailer
 

Yahoo! put up a new trailer in HD that shows a lot more 'bots. While I've approached this whole re-inventing thing very skeptically, I saw a few things that really pleased me.

First off, the fluidity of in-motion transformation was amazing. I hate cliches, but it was awesome.

Secondly, they've added something to the new transformation sounds that hasn't been heard in the other trailers. I just about flipped shit at 1:38, when at the end of Optimus Prime's transformation, the classic TV transformation sound was integrated.

Finally, I have more hope of more straight 'bot battles and interaction. I don't know if they're just dangling it there for us to drool over, or they've actually listened to millions of fans, but from the looks of it the movie actually has a chance of not sucking.

Your link for the sound doesn't work. Boourns... I was hoping to get it. :D And I was flipping a shit too when I heard that sound.


When the new Godzilla movie came out... yes, it sucked... it sucked hard. But at least they kept the classic Godzilla roar and that was all I needed to be happy with it.

with Peter Cullen voicing Prime and the transformation sound... I'm perfectly happy for now.

I hadn't thought much about the transformers movie, not being a very big transformers fan, and being away from tv commercials means that I really haven't seen very much about it. I have to say, after seeing that commercial, I'm starting to think that this movie will be worth seeing.

This already showed up in this thread... (along with a few sweet pictures of my Masterpiece Megatron).

The only thing that currently worries me about Transformers is the lack of speaking TFs in all the trailers so far.

I hope it's because they're trying to keep from showing off any of the best shots, but really I'm worried that it's because the dialogue between the TFs isn't going to be as good as it could be.

But they probably, like I said, are just holding back some of the best shots. At least that's what I tell myself at night.

If you watch the trailers, you'll notice that most the shots of the TFs are deliberately vague. Barely a single clear shot of any of them, either transformed, transforming, or speaking, so I get the impression they want people to see them for the first time when they first see the film.

The voices shouldn't dissapoint though, as I believe several of the original voice actors are back, except for the odd few who have died. Bumblebee is the only TF who doesn't speak.

Those trailer gives me a confounded sense of hope I hadn't gleamed from the previous ones. Mainly because of the amount of hot robot on robot action present tells me "The humans don't have to ruin the movie".

Cullen is the only confirmed one, playing Prime. And Bumblebee's lack of speaking - I'm convinced - is a plot device that I totally understand.

But I'm just hoping that Jazz still has that bitchin' street-slang, and that Ironhide is still as much of a mule as ever, and that Starscream whines and gets his ass pummeled by Megs, etc etc etc.
