Semi-obscure, really cool games
Just for suggestions while going through the used racks and such.
If you've never played Intelligent Qube, I'd highly recommend it. It's a puzzle game, and the best way I can think to describe it is that it's as good a vision as any of what happens to wicked programmers in the afterlife. Plus, it's the one game I can count on for girls to enjoy. Anything else is hit-or-miss, but Qube hooks 'em like... like a great big girl-hooking thing. Not sure what's up with that, but there you go. So, if anyone else has a favorite game that hardly anybody else has ever heard of, by all means share. |
Orphen: Scion of Sorcery for the PS2
The characters and story line aren't that well developed (as one would expect of a game based on an anime)... the dungeons and puzzles are fun and hard, however... and the battle system is really cool. They, in my opinion, more than make up for the character/story line problems. |
Legend of Dragoon, for PS
Graphics are a bit dated, but the game definitely competes with the FF series. Now if only they'd make a sequel... |
Yeah. Legend of Dragoon is great. I'm currently playing it again. The best part about it is you actually do something in the battle other than inputting commands.

Gitaroo Man for the PS2.
Gitaroo Man is the rockin'est game that I have ever played. Emphasis on rockin'est. I've yet to see a game rock more than that game. It rocks! |
Pilotwings 64. I don't know why everyone hated this game. Flying around the little states with the rocket belt was tons o fun.

R.A.D for the PS2. Best robot fighting game I ever played, hands down. It isn't so much odd as it is very very rare.

It really is a fantastic game though... and featured some of the best damned voice acting in anything ever :D |
You know what, nobody I know has ever played Monkey Island. That series has got to be one of the querkiest series I have ever played, and darn fun too. It's annoying when I intigrate "I want to be a pirate" into conversations, and nobody gets it. Blarg!

Mischief Makers. A little weird, but it's somewhere out there for the N64.
