You're opinions on FFX-2

I was wondering, should I get FFX-2 now that it is out. Ive heard some good things and some bad things. So I am wondering if I should get it.

Well, with three hours of gameplay under my belt, I'd say it's pretty good so far barring the opening sequence. May I say "corny"? The dress spheres/ jobs are fun. BLACK MAGE IS THE BEST!!! The story is pretty pointless, but the battles are fun. For the first time in my life, I enjoy random encounters. The oversoul feature is pretty good, yet I miss killing the pitiful enemies. There aren't any limits or overdrives and I have yet to meet a moogle or a chocobo. Graphics are good, it's pretty funny with Brother obsessed with Yuna, but the villains so far are stupid. Besides that, get it. It's worth it.

It IS out? *mutters* The dumbfuck at Wal-Mart told me they'd delayed it last second until December 2nd.

Fuck Wal-Mart. :|

Black Moogle Mage 11-20-2003 08:41 PM

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Wal-Mart? They get their games two weeks after the initial release and the so called workers with game "knowledge" don't know the difference between a Sports game and a FPS. Go to gamestop or EB...not walmart...

I have only a few hours under my belt, but I like it. It's light-hearted and well, goofy at times, which is a welcome change from the doom and gloom save the world but you still fail type of story that has been prevailant. The battle system is interesting, thought I thought it was weird when I read about it I figured things out quickly and have already adapted myself to it... it really makes things fun, and I like leveling up as much in X-2 as I did in X (and I loved the battle system in FFX). And you must give some credit to any game that will use the word "Disasterific."

I love the light heartedness of the game...it's really fun and all, but I just played for an hour and already at level 10...O_o That's what I call twinkin' out :rmage:

Anyone else at a freakishly high level as well?

My are opinion of FFX-2?

I'll play it. My friends like it. I'd get it for completeness anyway.

I liked some of it...

The atmosphere was nice. The job system and battle systems are also awesome. But I hated the Story Completion Percentage thing. It lays way too much pressure on getting everything right, exploring every place, and doing every side quest the first time through, which kills the replay value. Oh that and they axed the Blitzball as an active sport; and invented the hell hole that is Gunner's Gauntlet.

SAAM, get the Death Star III over here! We have a Code Lightsaber-Bright Red!

Anyway, the only thing I really liked about FFX-2 was looking at Yuna and Paine all the time(Rikku's ugly, IMO). But I agree Blitzball was butchered. And while I am a perfectionist, I don't like the whole idea of having side quests everywhere and on the airship in every chapter.

I'll admit that before FFX-2, though, the RPG I was working on had a completion percentage similar to what FFX-2's is; getting percentage points for some of the most trivial things(who would really think about sleeping when the save point restores HP? I wouldn't!). But, now that Square-Enix made a reason that you had to buy a strategy guide for a game to complete the game(hey, I doubt those guys at Gamefaqs did everything all by themselves, especially considering some of them are exactly detail-for-detail on par with a strategy guide), I've decided I'll tone down on the percentage completion for my RPG.
