i need a new spyware program!

so xoftspy went down the tube.

any suggestions for a new spyware that i don't have to pay a ton for (or can get free :D ) and will update itself?

i just got a new computer and i wanna take care of this one...unlike my other 2 computers which died this year from power cord related injuries....

The free version of Ad-Aware, and Spybot S&D have pretty much always been my standbys.

Or at least were my standbys, until my solution for computer problems became "keep everything I need on a separate drive and just reformat the fucking machine at the first sign of trouble."

If you're willing to pay about $30 for registration Spyware Doctor is an excellent program.

But short of that Adaware and SB:S&D like Fifth mentioned are great programs in their own right.

Supplement those two with Avast anti-virus. It checks for some spyware too, auto-updates its virus definition files, and it's free for home use.

Hmm, I'd have to go get some, as I don't download any ever.

The thread title and OP really make it sound like he/she wants spyware itself, not detection and removal programs. I say we oblige.

For anti-spy, I use AVG. Mostly because it's free and I'm a college student. But it seems to work well. For spyware itself, go to Gaia Online and start clicking ads. XD

It wasn't meant to be mean-spirited. People just have unique senses of humor here. ;)
