Fire Safety

today, my college (located in the south-loop of Chicago) had a fire drill. I'm proud to say that in the event of an actual fire, EVERYONE IN THE 623 S.MICHIGAN BUILDING WOULD BE BURNT ALIVE.

it took us 10 minutes to get down 12 flights of stairs, people were using the wrong stair cases (those not marked as fire exits), and no one really directed us to do anything after we got outside.

so, good work Columbia College, glad to know you're looking out for your students.

Makes you feel any better, some jackass pulled the fire alarm in our dorm hall 3:40 am last Thursday.

You think your school is slow?
We have constuction at our school right now and it sometimes sets off the alarm. One day the fire alarm just goes off during lunch...nobody moves. Everyone just talked louder or went into thier classroom.

It's college. When have drills and speed ever gone together?

Seriously, though, I know what you are going on about. It's kind of sad.

Well, everybody dies someday. In your case it would just be in a fire, and because of stupid slow students! :D

Fire, fire on your sleve...

Oh, and I've never had a fire drill at my college.

Yeah, my school had a thing for a while where the fire alarm whent off everyday three times a day. No one ever moved. My favorite scenario is if the field is on fire, and everyone has to evacuate to the field.

Ha! When the person pulled the alarm at 3:40, a lot of people didn't even hear it in their sleep.

Hell, my roommate thought it was her alarm clock!

Oh, the memories... back in my school, each class had an assembly point outside to evacuate to in the event of a fire. These points were the columns that held the roof over a path leading to a different building. And after our first drill ever, naturally the question arose what we were to do if said roof happened to be on fire.

Or, as my teacher put it: "Good question. What are we going to do if only column D is burning?"

lets just say this:

If it was a fire then everyone would be going much much faster. Nobody is going to rush for a fugging drill. Now, if they were threatened with being burned alive, you bet your ass they would be going pretty damn speedy :D
