BONESAW IS READYYYYYYYYYY

I had fun with this guy. He's made out of die-cast so the carving of his bonesword to make him Bonesaw didn't turn out like I planned. However, the real focus is the scrotum and tube for the Venom Cannon, which was a fun conversion. I just took two of the tubes from the Monstrous Creature Weapon grid that comes with Hive Tyrants and Carnifexii and cut a few of the tubes up.

Lawl visectomy.

Anyway I put a bit of putty on and stuck them together. When it dried I painted it all white, then applied a very light coating of Dark Angels Green, and when that dried, I filled in any white spots and added a layer of 'Ardcoat to give it that slimy goodness.

Around his hand, I made sure to paint it all green and turn his hands black.

For the Lash Whip, I just did a layer of brown - I forget which one, it might be Beastial Brown - then drybrushed Blood Red and Codex Grey.

I'm really happy with how he came out.

That thing is bitchin. Bet it couldn't hold a candle to my Lowrider Monolith though, but that is another story for another time. Are you adjusting the combat stats for the saw, or will you leave it as is, and treat it as a sword?

Mirai Gen 05-28-2007 12:21 PM

Leave it as is. I was tempted to alter the stats, but the people I play with prefer if you don't tweak things in 40k. Makes the game more...traditional.

Lord of Joshelplex 05-28-2007 04:08 PM

I intend to alter the stats of the Lowrider Monoliyh, but yeah, it feels better to play with the original stuff. That is a really good Job though, maybe you should do models for the GW catalogue.

I am nowhere NEAR good enough as the 'Eavy Metal team. Look at the knees, especially. I have some cleanup work to do.

Stomphoof 05-29-2007 07:58 AM

Its a better paint job then I can do :P Then again I am just starting out.. Lets see if I can find an example of what I have done. Mind you, I play Orcs and Goblins Warhammer Fantasy :P

Yea, he was and is my first and only painted dude so far. Stupid Work. I think I am gonna start working on my dudes more this coming week :)

I need to get some more units too.

But I really like the color scheme and the axe*

*thanks Flare :P

Mirai Gen 05-29-2007 01:46 PM

That's pretty good, but seriously dude? Darker colors.

Flarecobra 05-29-2007 01:54 PM

And that's an Axe, not a sword.

Grünspan 05-29-2007 02:04 PM

@Mirai Gen:
That Hive Tyrant looks good, but the white is a bit too bright,
maybe you could tone it down a little, or is that cartoony feeling intended?

@Stomphoof:
I would use some washes/inks, those will make the colours darker and add accents.

Mirai Gen 05-29-2007 02:07 PM

When I do touch ups I'm planning on dry brushing some Bleached Bone over it.

I really can't stop staring at the scales on the knee and head. They look so bad.
