5 Random Songs
Not really sure if this is the correct forum, but Creativity Corner seems more action, as opposed to entertained, oriented.
Anyways, just a chance to get a general feel for the varying musical tastes of the forum. Merely click through your musical library on shuffle, paste the songs that pop up in your post, and maybe give us your personal take on what shows up? Explosions in the Sky - "Six Days at the Bottom of the Ocean" from The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place I actually started off manually with this because my brother recently got me hooked on Friday Night Lights. I had forgotten that Explosions did some of the soundtrack and I've kinda made it my mission to get him to enjoy post-rock (he doesn't like the lyricless-ness). Every so often, usually through Questionable Content or maybe Pitchfork, I'll check out a new post-rock band, but so far none have dethroned Explosions. I actually got the chance to hear this, and a lot more songs from the newest album (All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone), over Spring Break and it was pretty extraodinary. The National - "Slow Show" from Boxer I haven't had the chance to fully digest this CD, but from the brief fly-by listenings I've attempted its pretty good. More somber overall than their last (Alligator), and I've been on a bombast kick (a lot of Battles, Dan Deacon, and Gui Borrato recently), so once my internal stage settles down I'll be sure to return to this. The lead singer is pretty insane live. Clipse - "Trill" from Hell Hath No Fury This was a past case of my inner venue not being quite ready for an album. I was in a more rocky mood and my friends kept trying to push a new rap album on me. Cut to about a month later and I can't get enough of this CD. Clipse is one of those rap groups with an amusing backstory in the drug trade (explained succintly enough by their "I ain't spend one rap dollar in three years" line on another song), but their music is very infectious. Plus, I think "Icy wrist help me to cool off/And the second hand in this bitch it moonwalks" is my favorite rap line, possibly ever. (Fun Fact: Trill = Truely Ill. I think.) Sigur Ros - "Viorar Vel Til Loftarasa" from Agaetis Byrjun If you have any tickets to a live Sigur Ros performance, I have a friend who will literally perform your every fantasy, not matter how depraved or sexual, to get a seat. I don't go that far, but they are enjoyable, although my preference leans towards their rockier stuff, while he likes the shoegazing aspect. I'd highly reccomend Takk, especially if you're susceptible to ridiculously catchy piano. Emily Haines - "Crowd Surf Off A Cliff" from Knives Don't Have Your Back When I saw Broken Social Scene at Lollapalooza last year, I immediately made it clear that I had dibs on Emily Haines (Feist and Lisa Lobsinger have already been accounted for also, FYI). I really like the fact that she can make high energy, full band songs in Broken Social Scene and Metric, and then go off on her own and make a nice mellow piano CD. Again, I have already called dibs. |
Nine Inch Nails - "Me, I'm Not", Year Zero
A very neat album overall, Year Zero is an intriguing departure from Trent Reznor's earlier introspective work into a look at where the world might be headed in the very near future. Musically, it just happens to be what I'm into at the moment stylistically, so there's not too much complaining from me here. Dhsu - "Koopa vs. Kefka", OCRemix.org I found myself enjoying this peace for what it was: a bizarre mash-up that moves from a haunting solo piano version of the Koopa Castle theme from Super Mario World to a bombastic take on the organ solo from Final Fantasy VI's "Dancing Mad". POS Industries - "Kid Cuisine", live from nowhere in particular I made it myself! Yes, several months ago I was playing around with one of the vibraphone effects and recorded a neat little minute and a half track that to which I added some static noise from some other effect that I'd made a track out of, fading in and out wherever I saw fit. I then spent about 15 minutes scribbling down some lyrics about eating babies and recorded the vocal track. A few hours ago one of my cousins was mildly disturbed by it. Happy day! Korn - "Got The Life", MTV Unplugged You know, from a purely musical standpoint, I actually found myself liking the acoustic versions of a number of Korn's older songs better than the originals. Fieldy doesn't sound a damn bit different, though. Tool - "Stinkfist", Ænima It's a classic, and I shouldn't have to explain a damn thing. |
So Cold - Breaking Benjamin
Blinded in Chains - Avenged Sevenfold Fault Line - 10 Years The Endless Feed - Dark Tranquility Why - Soil Not much to say. I'm a whore for mainstream. Except Dark Tranquility. That's less mainstream than the other 4. Meh, I'm so generic! |
Hmm I got
Baba O'Reilly(Teenage Wasteland) ~ The Who Because, well there is really no need to ever justify Teenage Wasteland. Hero of the Day ~ Metallica Tis okay. Zombie Prostitute ~ Voltaire Funny, gross and morbid gothic folk. What's not to like? Winterstorm ~ Machinae Supremacy My favourite of theirs is Hero, but Winterstorm is probably second. Learnt about them from this forum too. You Shook Me All Night Long ~ AC/DC It's AC/DC. One of my favourites of theirs though I prefer Long Way to the Top. I have a varied playlist. |
The Aquabats - Fashion Zombies (Charge!!)
One of my favourite songs by the new style Aquabats. Does a great job in taking the piss out of all the emos and scene kids. Youtube Music Video Midnight Brown - Too Hot (2084) Composed by Gamespot's Jeff Gerstmann, this is the opening songs for their podcast, "The Hotspot". Great bit of electro-rap thing... Midnight Brown, live in concert Reel Big Fish - She Has a Girlfriend Now (Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album) Very funny little ska song. "I'M GONNA SMELL YOU" Youtube Music Video Honest Bob and the Factory-To-Dealer Incentives - Soy Bomb (Guitar Hero 2 Soundtrack) Great song, great song to play on the game. Reminds me of a old, cheesy spy film (but done really well) Guitar Hero Youtube Vid Freezepop - Less Talk More Rokk (Guitar Hero 2 Soundtrack) Gotta love some Synth-pop! Guitar Hero 2 Youtube Video So yeah, quite a nerdy mix. |
Fee - Phish
Feel Good Inc. - The Gorillaz Feelings - The Offspring The Final Countdown - Europe Flash - Queen |
Doing all right- Queen
What can I say? My Ipod used to have lots of bands till I realised the worst Queen song was better than the best of anyone else. My ipod is now 16 hours of straight queen. Take the weather with you- Crowded House The best song NZ has produced. This should be our national anthem. Everyone knows it and its awesome! Rocky Racoon- Beatles Not much to say here. Iron Man- Black Sabbath I AM IRONMANNNN! Training of a Jedi Knight- John Williams My computer is too new to play the sounds for X-wing so I have all the music from the original trilogy to play in the background. That and my flatmates and I have marathon sessions of Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight duels. Though all I need for that is the Imperial March on loop. No one can escape my force chokes while I'm cunningly hidden despite being in stormtrooper armour. |
Octavarium (Octavarium) - Dream Theater
Not my fave DT song, but it was the first one that popped into my head. claire~月の調べ~ (Voyage ~sans retour~) - Malice Mizer Same with this song aswell, I prefer others to this, but it's still freaky. Echoes (Meddle) - Pink Floyd Definately their first masterpiece after Syd left them. Three Minute Warning (Liquid Tension Experiment) - Liquid Tension Experiment A 28 minute improv track that just really sounds like a very carefully written song. All of the Above (SMPT:e) - Transatlantic Gotta love the 30 minute epic songs of Transatlantic. Not much to say really, not too into mainstream, not too into the really heavy stuff, I'm more of a prog rock fan. Japanese music is also cool, especially the visual kei stuff. :D |
Uh this isn't favourite song, this just random picks from your playlist, made with the shuffle button or something.

Supertramp - Dreamer
<3 Supertramp. I'm afraid of britney spears - from Ed the Socks unwashed collection. I only just turned 15, I'm filled with hopes and dreams, I turn my radio on and I hear the strangest song I'm afraid of britney spears and christina aguliaria Backstreet boys and N'sync I don't know what to think The Beginning - As I lay Dying *shrugs* everyone needs some metal. Lying from you - Linkin Park I have all their albums. Karate - Tenacious D. With Karate I'll kick your ass, from here to right over there! That doesn't even come CLOSE to demonstrating my library effectively. :/ In fact, it's kind of a BAD display of my music. |
