Sony Gamers Day

Coverage by my main man, the Sess

After seeing the Sony Gamers Day (or whatever it's called) stuff, I am finally convinced that there are games the 360 just cant do. Drakes Forutune looks simplay amazing, the best animation I've ever seen in a game, and it also looks fun (a big plus over just looking pretty) I also think that Lair, Little Big Planet, Heavenly Sword, Drakes Fortune are all going to be the games that get the PS3 off the ground, if it is still around by then.

Whaddya think? Will we admit the PS3 has a few good games coming?

A few.

Regardless, that is not enough for me to display interest in the system.

Also, of course there are going to be games that the 360 can't handle. The motion-sensing controller makes that a certainty. However, even though the 360 cannot handle the game, that does not make it better.

Im not saying it does, but a lot pf people are saying the 360 can run any games on the PS3 simply in terms of graphics.

Of course there are good games coming. The question is how well will these actual games perform in terms of sales, and how long will they remain as exclusive titles for Sony.

This could be a mantra. The PS3 may be more powerful, but all that capacity won't do you any good if there's nothing to convince people to buy it.

Well, I cant see Heavenly Sword, Lair, Drakes Fortune or Little Big Planet (as they are owned by Sony) leaving the PS3, which is good for them, since those are currently the big games for the PS3s. Im also assuming that Drakes Fortune may actually make use of the BR, since I'm a whole lot of the data on the disk is just animations.

No matter how good the 600 dollar PS3 is, no matter how high-end in the tech tree and all that crap...

Does it really compare to the 3,000 dollar PC with state-of-the-art stuff?

Yeah actually, though the bleeding edge system might edge it in technical grunt, assuming you've shelled out the extra $2000 for a good sound system and decent tv, the PS3 and 360 are still better for games.

They aren't making games that reach the limits of the PS3(or the 360) yet for the PC either, and they still cost a lot less. A couple of years down the road the $3000 PC will win, assuming they haven't changed something so you need to arbitrarily update something making your old but still powerful cards useless for the modern games. But that will never happen.:p

Also because games are made specifically for that exact specification of hardware they can do a lot of really neat tricks to make it look incredible(see Shadow of the Colossus) which is impossible for a PC game or a multiplatform which have to be generalised, so you can and will get 360 and PS3 games that look better than PC ones even if it's all through art tricks and fancy coding.

A PC will, in my oppinion, never be as good as a console. There are just some things you will never get on a PC.

Shadow of the Colossus renewed my faith in Sony.
PS3 killed it.

In my oppinion, the only console that has a bleak looking future right now is the 360. I mean, yeah, there are no games out right now, but on PS3 and Wii, it is acceptable, as they havent had a year yet, 360 is well into its second year, and since Gears of War came out, it really, has just sat there, nothing worth noting except a multiplayer beta.
