Please explain Last Night's Smallville to me... (Feel free to use itty bitty words)
Or am I not the only one who was a bit confused?
Last night's episode just didn't work for me. The only reason why Edge would need to change his face, would be because he's on the run from Lionel. I mean, last we knew, Lionel thought that Edge tried to kill him. The only way Edge could work his way back into Lionel's graces, is if he told Lionel everything he knew about Clark, but Edge wouldn't know this. All Edge has is a story, and without knowing Lionel's own suspicions about Clark, its a rather flimbsy story. Then, let's consider the "evidence" Lex gathers. A videotaped confession, from a man who does not even appear to be Edge, is no evidence at all. Plus, he was showing sign of the influence of the drug *BEFORE* anything was going down. Was it really necessary to mess Lex up, just over that? Of course, I kinda got the slight hint that maybe this isn't the first time Lex's memory has been tweaked, and the reason why he was brought in, wasn't because of anything to do w/ Edge, but the fact that after his encounter on the island, Lionel was worried he was begining to break the conditioning placed on him the last time. Personally, the only way this episode can be really redeemed, is if Clark breaks Lex out next episode, as he's bound to feel guilty for failing both Lex & Lana. Sky Warrior Bob |
maybe its just a poorly written show on a poorly run network?

Have they ever mentioned dead baby brother Julian before? It seemed kind of out of left field -- suddenly Lex has this history of singing creepy lullabies while rocking a rolled-up binky that's never been mentioned before, ever? You'd think that would've come up during all that business with the mandatory psychological tests and therapy sessions. I really like your theory that Lionel's been screwing with Lex's mind for much longer than this, though, that could be interesting.
It's lucky for Clark that Lex will probably end up believing that seeing him stop that car was just another delusion, though. If he could dope up everyone he's slipped and blatantly used his powers in front of he'd never end up needing a secret identity. |
Im still Confused, I tried to make some sense of it but I still don't understand it.
Also I think a new episode of Smallville will not be on the air till 01-07-2004. |
Jullian did get mentioned briefly, a while back. I think the episode w/ Lex's nanny (1st season?), the one who was dying from cancer. I only vaguely recall the matter, but from Lex's account, Lionel tried to be a "real" father to Julian, and basically tried to be something other than his monsterous self and was devastated by Julian's death.
As for the crack about Smallville being a poorly run show on a poorly run network, begone w/ you I say! Smallville has its faults, but its one of the better Sci-Fi shows on television today. SWB |

It is, I have seen some other shows and they don't compare to smallville as of late. As for the Network they have some good shows other than smallvile like JKX, Grounded for life and some others. |
I figured out today how Lex would've proven that the man on the tape is in fact Morgan Edge, Mr. Bob. Remember when he first shows up in the Lair of Plastic Surgery, and says that Morgan can change his hair, his face, or his voice, but that he can't change his sweat? I have come to the conclusion that this is Lex's not-very-scientific way of saying that he'd use DNA evidence to convince the court that the guy on the tape is the same Morgan Edge, just with a new face. Although this plan does depend on Morgan's DNA already being recorded somewhere, but I'm guessing Lex would've made certain of that before he went any further with his plan. Unless he was already too confused by the drugs to have considered it. Gah. I don't know anymore. >_<
Edited to add: at least there's an interesting column on the subject over at Kryptonsite. Let me know what you think of it! |
ok, allow me to explain smallville...
the dude with dark hair is superman when he's youngerand smallville is where he grew up :D ;) ::::this just in, Elsea is a smart-ass:::: |
as i understand it.
lionel WANTED to drug lex. or at least did it to "protect" him. clark chose to help lex b/c lex is his friend and he defied even his parents to do it. correct me if i'm wrong but didn't lex find his long lost little brother? they just... never mention him anymore... i'm actually really looking forward to the split between clark and lana. i was just getting so very tired of the whole drama to it. but i still want to see them together... which is tragic because we know what's going to happen between them ultimately. same with lex. and you can already see that... isolated feeling that clark is beginning to feel. or more so an amplified isolated feeling. in terms of character development i'd like to see some instances where clark is flat out wrong in his decision that he deems "right". just because it'd serve to help him form his superb moral compass. plus i'd like to see his parents play a larger role in guiding him. and where the hell is pete? |
Julian isn't dead. At the end of the episode where it's revealed Lex had a little brother, Lionel looks into a locket with a picture of a kid who is both not Lex and about the age Julian would be.
