The Quest for the Final Summoning, Ch. 3

Chapter 3: "Journey to the Island of Fire."
---------------------------------------

Raine, the early riser she is, was already awake and out the door before any of the others were. Not wanting to disturb the others Raine quietly got out of bed, went to pray at the temple shortly, then she headed to the outskirts of Besaid, where she prayed at the monument there that had been set up for travellers to pray for safety on their journey.
After she finished praying there, she stood on the overlook, looking at Besaid from afar. It would soon be morning, and she'd have to go wake the others so they could get ready and get on their boat to Kilika.

Brian was restless the entire night. He could barely think without remembering that he had probably already missed his chance to try to be a guardian. He sighed. Back his boring life again. He automatically went to do his morning chores.

(Here's a little question for the FF nuts: What is the FF equivilent of 'Jesus!')

"You know, Raine," Jason yelled out from well behind her, "we gaurdians are supposed to gaurd you. You know, follow you around, try to make sure you don't die, that stuff. Which means that we're supposed to be near you at all times. I'm sure it was written in the terms of service contract, but I don't have it with me. Either way, you need--well, reall really should--take at least one of us along with you. It'd make things easier. We'll stay out of your way and all, and, you know, give you room to think, if you'd like..."

Jason had jogged much of the distance, before he realized that Raine had likely come out here to think "...right. So I'll just be...uh...giving you some thinking room." He turned, walked away, and sat down on a rock some distance away.

Rei watched Jason ruin Raine's thinking.

Idiot... He thought from his spot hidden in a tree overlooking the overlook. He had waken up when Raine was leaving the temple, and being a guardian he had followed her. Figuring she wanted to think, he never made his pressence clear.

Raine turned as she glanced at Jason, who had been scolding her about her going off on her own. She smiled, then called back to him, "I feel fairly safe here... I mean, what's the worst that could happen on an island like Besaid?"

OOC: Whenever someone says that, I expect something bad to happen... Didn't someone mention a need for a Sin attack...

Dezil had slept at a different inn. He woke up fairly early, then went for a walk around the town when it was still early and very few people were awake. He walked through town, watching the closed buildings with some enterprising indiviuals opening up shop already. He had gotten his supplies last night, along with a new ring or two that would be useful to protect against certain status ailments. He meandered through town, and tried to remember places to visit in Besaid, because he rarely came here, usually helping out summoners further along in their journeys. He eventually walked out of town, and as he wandered down a path, he noticed some people. He realized one was the summoner from earlier, but she seemed to be thinking... until one of her guardians came from no where and interrupted her. Dezil made his way a short distance on the path back away from the site of the local prayer point, and waited on the path for her to return from praying.

Mitsu came up the road grom the lake, wet. "Hey. You're all up early."

Zita rummaged through the underside of the bar, sorting through any of the alchohol he could find. Argoth had been kind enough to let him sleep in the bar, and now he was trying to modify his guns. He had been able to use the Ifrits fire through the gun, but it was barely enough to light a candle, so now Zita was looking for a fuel source to punch up the power.

Finding a bottle he deemed powerful enough, he took out one of his guns and his tools an dbegan whackng and clanking away into the night.

Argoth watched curiously as Zita messed around with some alchahol and a pair of guns "this is supposed to achieve what exactly?"

Bite the Wax Tadpole 02-21-2004 10:28 PM

"Well, I can get the never ending fire to go through the gun, I just can't get it to do it to the point where I can toast anything in front of me. But, if my little fuel idea works, I think I might be able to make any flame magic useless. Of course, I'll probably have to eventually develop a way to do it without the magic fire, maybe add a bigger fuel tank...meh, we'll see, but I think I got this figured out...hey, when does the next boat come in?"
