All right, I've gotten enough interest in this, so I'm gonna go ahead and post the sign-up thread.

Temeria. Land of wealth and decadence. Land of intrigue and possibility. It has had its times of war and times of peace. Nations vie for power, both in the audience chamber and on the battlefield. Rulers rise and fall, and alliances are forged and broken.

You are the omniscient ones, capable of controlling your patron country's destiny. At any time, you can leap into the body of one of its citizens and manipulate their actions, affecting the tides of fate.

Here's the template for your countries. I will be providing incentives for being detailed: if you create a particularly detailed history or description of your country, I will grant your country one exceptional quality, which you can generally define, (a legendary weapon, artifact, creature, hero, or trait), but I will create around your definiation. For instance, if you were to specify an "artifact" for your exceptional quality, I might give your leader a scepter that they can use to utterly dominate all of his subjects that can see the scepter. The level and quality of detail is in direct proportion to the power or quality of the exceptional quality. :)

After all countries have been posted, I will decide who borders who. You may request to border another player's country, but you must provide a good reason (such as an alliance, necessity for trade, etc.) for me to accept your request.

Country Name: Archanas
Type of Government: Monarchy
Description: Archanas is geographically diverse, having plains, mountains, and forests in abundance. Once a very powerful country, a five hundred year war destroyed the once numerous population. At it's height, the population numbered over one hundred million, though now, the population stands around seven to eight million. A large country, but by far not the largest, especially after the war, also known as The Sundering. Due to it's history, the country is largely based around it's military, and out of the small population, over 25% of the residents are involved in the military in some way. It's major exports are lumber, game, and blacksmithing supplies.

History: Archanas, in it's hayday, was one of the most powerful countries the world has ever known. It's military was large, it's land was fertile, it's people were wealthy, and it's leader, the Emperor Saigo Kusunoki, was a God amongst men. All of that changed when Morian Baneblade, the once Prime Minister, turned on the Emperor, and with his heresy, so turned more than half of the military and civilian population. The country was devastated, and torn in two for five hundred years. The war ended when Emperor Saigo, resurrected after ascending to Godhood, fought and killed both Morian Baneblade and his patron demon god, Malak'har. This battle, however, killed the great Emperor, but his goal was achieved and Archanas was once again peaceful.

Current Heroes:

Emperor Phoenix Kusunoki: A descendant of the late Emperor Saigo, Phoenix is benevolent and kind. Aged 38 and two parts elf, one part demon, and one part human, he is a skilled fighter and a quick thinker and learner. His people love him, and he treats everyone with the respect they deserve.

Shiga Stormborne: Still living father of Saigo, he was once a servant of Malak'har but was killed by his own son to preserve peace. Over five hundred years later, Saigo resurrected him to repent for his sins, which he did without question. Though nearing the end of his life and not nearly the fighter he used to be, people still quake in fear at the mere mention of his name. He is the current military figurehead, as Phoenix prefers to stay out of war himself.

The Nine: Nine eternal soldiers of the Emperor, they are the last remaining of Emperor Saigo's three thousand personal guard, the Sons of the Emperor. With Saigo deceased, they unstintingly serve Phoenix as his personal bodyguards. He is never seen without them at his side. When they were created, some of Saigo's godly powers were passed to them, making them unnaturally tall, strong, and unwavering. They do not know pain or fear.

Captain Garviel Loken: Captain of the Hammers, a unit of the Archanas army Regulars. He leads a company of forty swordsmen and twenty halberdiers, as well as fifteen archers and ten heavy cavalry. Well respected by his men, he is rising in the ranks fast, and has even caught the eye of the Emperor as a new, up and coming hero of the country.

Past Heroes:

Emperor Saigo Kusunoki/Asyrdar Stormborne: The Avatar of the god Maltheris, the former Emperor who made Archanas into the wealthiest, most powerful nation, and then pulled them from what seemed like certain destruction. He is worshipped as a God in today's times, though it has only been two decades since his death. All amongst the world, whether enemies of Archanas or allies, respect him for his sacrifices and devotion to his country.

Regent-Marshall Shiro Tanata: Was the best friend of Emperor Saigo throughout their childhood. Shiro was unstintingly loyal, more so than even the Sons of the Emperor. He met his end shortly after Saigo's death, when quelling a rebellion of Malak'har loyalists.

General Chou Raenyc: A leader of the Archanas army before Saigo became Emperor. Was tall and imposing, he was dubbed the "Coming Evil" by enemies of Archanas. His curved bladed spear, Draconis, rests in a loop on Phoenix's throne; Raenyc was one of his heroes from his childhood.

Theres more past heroes that will be touched upon throughout the RP, Im just feeling lazy right now. Lemme know if there's any problems.

Hmm...I think I'll try this out. I'm leaning towards a more serious version of Ankh-Morpork, where a gaggle of powerful self governing guilds are kept in check by a general emperor/elected leader. Sort of like an oligarchy republic. More later after I have a day to work this out in my head.

Exceptional quality eh? Hm...maybe unstintingly loyal/unbreakable citizens? Considering they endured a five century war, the people would be hardy and used to strife, even twenty years later.

Country Name: Makyos
Type of Government: (Oligarchy, theocracy, magocracy, democracy, etc.)Magocratic/Theocratic/Dynastic Hybrid
Description: It encompasses four mini-continents to the West(Britain sized areas), a large island to the West and one continent in the East. Their Western most island is tropical, surrounded by a thousand tiny islands all around it. It is mostly rain forest, with a central mountain. The other Islands are identical in climate to Britain, with Southern, Northern, and Western mountains, respectively. The large island closest to the Eastern Continent comprises of many hills, rivers, and forests. The continent, however, is over six hundred thousand miles in area, comprising of a mixture of forests, hills, mountains, plains, and a small, desert area the size of Ireland.

Fourty five million people live in the combined area of the Makian Empire. Millions are factory workers, one million, five hundred thousand soldiers a few hundred thousand are engineers or the more scientific minded. Steam power, and the discovery of the "Rocket".(invention used to carry heavy objects at fifteen miles an hour)improved working conditions. Oriental and Roman style medicine, combined with the discovery of pasteurization, has lead to longer life spans, despite industrial unhealthiness that cannot be helped. Crop rotation, ensures that the ground does not tire of being constantly worked, producing more food. Anesthesia has been credited as a modern Marvel.

History:
Ancestors of the modern Makian people have mysteriously constructed a circle of stones that has been said to be the place where God will be born. Priests of Makyonese religion state to this day that their God will be born to serve the world, and one day to show it why it should be ruled by him.

Holy wars have been fought over the Holy Circle for seven thousand years. Occuring sporadically, sometimes only fifty years apart, and sometimes not until eight hundred years have passed. The last war, four hundred years ago, has faded into folk tale at the moment, but the ghosts of that day, still linger. They claim that the Circle is going to bear its fruit soon.

A once heretical sect from the Makyon Church is the founder of a great Academy of Mages, established three thousand years ago. They are the Magocracy of the people, one of the Empire's redeeming democratic features. Many astounding wizards have come from the Academy attempting to expand the power of the people through spreading knowledge of magic.

Country Name: Albanis

Type of Government: Monarchy

Description: A huge, vaguely rectangular-shaped peninsula pointed north, its centre contains various grasslands and forests. Its coasts are usually sandy beaches and house numerous ports, which hold and manufacture Albanis's mighty navy. However its northern coast is dominated by the Albanis Mountains. Just before these tall steppes lie the three most impotant cities in Albanis: Her capital, the gargantuan city of Otillia, famous for the Otillian Keep, one of the largest buildings in the world, Her formost port, unnamed and considered part of Otillia (despite the fact Otillia is quite a distance away), and Fort Bealborough the primary military installation. The population of Albanis is approx. 100 million, 10% of which are in the military and another 10% in the navy. Albanis also possesses some of the worlds most advanced military equipment, but is less than average in manufacture and food production. No one in Albanis has any kind of magical apptitude and until recently no one thought it existed

History: Albanis as a nation has only emerged recently, after two thousand years of small kingdoms fighting each other for supremacy. Then, a mere twenty years ago, a man named Hugh O'Neill changed everything. Born in the city of Richmond he joined the local military and quickly raised through the ranks to become lord. He quickly distinguished himself as a brilliant strategist and he began to take over nearby provinces. His most fearsome battle was with Hugh O'Donnell. After taking over his lands he was surprised to find himself under attack from O'Donnells navy and many battles were fought as O'Donnell attacked, retreated to the sea and attacked again. Eventually O'Neill captured him and, rather than execute him, offered him a place as his commander of his navy. O'Donnell excepted this and soon they defeated the entire west coasts collection of lordships.

However a problem was arisen when Mauve Houlihan of Blackwater, through conquest, blackmail and bribery, took control of the majority of Albanis. Both O'Neill and O'Donnell thought that Mauve would crush there small empire but, when a single-city state stopped her massive army at Cnocdara a glimmer of hope appeared. Apparently the hundred thousand strong force was defeated by a hundred men, a brilliant strategist by the name of Brian Boru and a super-human warrior that went by the name of Cuchullain. The two Hughs offered the warrior and strategist famous stature and command of their armed forces respectively, which they accepted. After a long war Mauve was defeated and Hugh O'Neill has reigned unchallenged for two decades.

Current Heroes:

Hugh O'Neill: He rules as High King of Albanis with the previous lords retaining their lands, so long as they show him total loyalty.

Hugh O'Donnell: Is now commander of of the navy and is quite happy with the state of affairs (though he is trying to get his port an official name)

Brian Boru: Is still commander of the armed forces, and has pioneered recent technological advancements. Bealborough his his personal fortress.

Cuchullain: Has lived in Otillia since the war twenty years earlier. He keeps to himself and the origins of his super-human strenght and speed are a mystery

High Priest Padraig Rice: Padraig Rice is leader of Albanis's new state religion, which states that God has chosen Albanis to lead the world into the future and rule it forever more. He states that this is to be done by any means necessary, though peaceful means is preferred. A fiery individual he is not one to be mocked without reason and Hugh has a great like of the man

Past Heroes:

The only person of true note is Sean McBride, the man who brought the first settlers to Albanis.

lol This looks pretty intense. Out of the three countries so far, mine has the smallest population by a long shot =P

Well in my book Mercy is a four letter word in my book so get ready. I'm also thinking of joining your RP (just have to digest the information, thats all)

Cool cool. Yeah its a bunch to write, but if I just gave a brief overview, it'd be too vague...lol I still have stuff to add in...just feeling lazy right now.
