Favorite War Movie

Mine would probably be the 2005 version of The Great Raid. What are y'all's?

Flarecobra 06-14-2007 11:19 PM

Heartbreak Ridge. You just can't fuck with Gunny Highway.

Mike McC 06-15-2007 12:02 AM

For me... probably Glory.

Mirai Gen 06-15-2007 12:45 AM

Matrix Revolutions.

See, 'cause like, there was no story, it was just a big robot vs squid fight. And it was great fight scenes. And, um....

Yeah I've got nothing...

Major Blood 06-15-2007 12:54 AM

Full Metal Jacket.

Actually, FMJ would be my favorite movie of all time.

Toast 06-15-2007 07:42 AM

Probably a tie between Glory and Tora! Tora! Tora!

If it counts, Dr Strangelove(which is about my favourite movie ever). Otherwise Apocalypse Now, or Enemy at the Gates.

Magus 06-17-2007 12:00 AM

I'd have to say Schindler's List.

Though if you mean a more traditional war movie where it's about the troops, I guess I'd have to say Saving Private Ryan, or maybe Gettysburg.

bananarama 06-17-2007 04:49 PM

The Great Escape or Dr. Strangelove

Xaeta 06-19-2007 07:30 PM

I like ancient wars: Troy
[despite it's horrible innacuracies]

Bobbey 06-20-2007 11:53 AM

Can we count intergalactic wars? Because I kinda liked Independance Day and War of the Worlds, even if the're more like sci fi/thriller movies.

Fifthfiend 06-20-2007 12:09 PM

I like to think of Fast and the Furious 3: Tokyo Drift as a war movie, except instead of war, drift racing.

Also,

FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!

Karrrrrrrrrrrresche 06-20-2007 01:24 PM

The Great Escape and A bridge too far, I had to watch these and write a report on them back in middle school.

Darth SS 06-20-2007 11:19 PM

I'm a real fan of "Black Hawk Down."

Loki, The Fallen 06-20-2007 11:24 PM

"This is Madness!" "No, This is Title™, Madness is over there."

I liked The Patriot and Braveheart, but Full Metal Jacket is too awesome not to list twice!

The most recent F&F was a very romanticized version of real Street Racing in Japan. But it was very entertaining to watch, and it can very well be considered a war of a sort.

The Lord of the Rings (Tolkien DID want to call the third book, "The War of the Ring." Okay, thin ice here.)

I loved Glory. Really great movie. One of Matthew Brodericks's(sp?) best roles.

The Wandering God

....Is most of the movies in here even war movies?

Oh well. Mine is possibly hard to consider one as well. Empire of the Sun.

Eat that Speilburg. Go back to making GOOD movies. Not these shock movies and Special Effects crap that only wow the little gold men on your mantle.
