another computer help thread

My computer has some odd setting where if I leave it alone for an undetermined length of time, then it logs itself out. Is there a way to turn this off because I'm trying to download a torrent but I cant leave it on overnight anymore.

Oh, and this just started up about a week ago

Yes there is. If the problem is what I think it is, then right click on your desktop and click properties. Then click the screen saver tab and then on the power button. What you're looking for could possibly be there.

If that doesn't solve the problem, then theres probably an option somewhere inside the control panel which I don't know about.

Seek out the person who fiddled with your settings one week ago and ask them what they did.

Thats the problem, I already asked my brother if he changed it and he didn't and he;s the only one who uses my computer besides me.

When you come back to it, is it in a screensaver? Or just sitting at the logon screen without you having touched it?

The purpose of this question is: You have the option to turn on password protection whenever the screensaver pops up. In other words, when you try and get out of the screensaver, it takes you to the logon screen. The option is here: (quote cause lazy)
Quote:

right click on your desktop and click properties. Then click the screen saver tab
Right beside where it asks you how long you want it to wait before going into screensaver is a check box. If its checked, uncheck it. If its unchecked, the silliness lies somewhere else.

In that same tab is the power settings, make sure you aren't set to hibernate or turn off after a period of innactivity.

I have a problem connecting to MSN Messenger, or any site related to it. I get error 80072efd, and no matter what I do (I was checking some forums and doing waht it said, fixing the files and stuff. What is wrong with it?

Demetrius 06-18-2007 05:20 PM

Have you recently installed anything? MSN is also a giant security hole, so if you been wandering around any sites that purport free content, that may also be the issue.

Lord of Joshelplex 06-18-2007 05:23 PM

Havent installed anyhitng myself, my sister might have. It was working fine this morning, then I shut donw the machine. A system restore didnt help, and I cant really download any updates since I cant access any of the MSN pages or hatmail.
