Elektra took Soup's logo and stuck on the side of her bike next to Uncle Leo's and her own. "Spark, you actually think the Horsemen will show their faces at this kind of race? I mean, it's not that I don't wanna beat their asses down, but they could pose a dangerous problem to the race."
"It's possible. It is a big race after all."
Scoffs at the mention of the Horsemen. "Bah, I'm so scared the Horsemen. All I know is nothing is gonna get in between me and first place." Grins and turns to Elektra and Spark. "When I get out on top you guys have an open invitation to stay at my place anytime you want. Heck bring anyone that you know." He stops talking and starts dreaming of his life out of the slums. "A chance to start anew... to get away from this place... to put my past behind... a second chance at life."
The light turned green. Uncle leo drove the fuelcell truck into the freight elevator. Spark was glad to get away from the ranting hodo (Yes that was Dr. Hobo, everybody wave at Dr. Hobo) Slowly the Elevator filled. It then began to move upward toward the surface. Making periodic stops at the industrial levels so freighters could get in and off.
Never been up there before... Chris thought to himself. Hope it's interesting. If it's not, at least the race will be.
The counter above the large hanger doors reached one. Spark Quickly yanked down his goggles. Uncle leo put on some face hugging dark sunglasses. The hanger cracked open into blinding white light. To look at the world above ground from living underground was painful. The afternoon sun reflected off of everything.
"Aah!" For about a minute, Chris was almost blinded. So that's why I haven't come up here. How can people even live up here?
Vince quickly slapped on a pair of sunglasses, he had actually lived above the surface at one time and was accustomed to the suns harsh glare. Home sweet Home
He decided to keep the hoverboard under his coat for now. The surfacers tended to get edgy whenever someone skimmed by their head... he couldn't imagine why. "So do any of you remember the way to the race track?" |
Elektra put her sunglasses on while feeling a moment of nausea. Going uptop always brought back bad memories for her. "Well, shall we get going?"
"Welcome to the upside," Shock said to his friends. He was also currently wearing goggles, gloves and concealing clothing, and a visible layer of sunblock on those areas that weren't covered already. His skin burned too easily. He had learned that soon enough. "I've got an hour or so before my client wakes up. I'll walk with you."
He bared his teeth and let out a hiss of pain. "Damnit I forgot there was a damn sun!!!" He reaches into his coat pockets and pulled out an eye visor that covered his entire eye socket and wrapped around to stop behind his ears. "I hope I'll get use to it once I move up to the surface." Grins his bravado hiding his fears.
He looked around and was surprised how everyone was reacting. Somehow it didn't affect him, but he didn't know why. He hadn't prepared for this, but somehow he felt like nothing had changed, other than the fact that the scenery was alittle nicer. "Alright, so where are we going?" he asked.
OOC: Forgot about this RP...
IC: Aras had brought a pair of sun glasses, since he knew that the sun would be to much for him. |
Spark and Leo rolled on to the sundrenched streets. The glass looked bronzey as it reflected the burning star's light. The street was lined by flowering trees. a lengthy park existed in the median. The streets teemed with life. Norms window shopped and moved about the towers and domes of Metal, stone and glass. Spark looked at his robotic arm and flexed his fingers. A twinge of jealousy flooded his being. Why? he wondered. Why do they get to live in this avarice in the sunlight He clenched his hand in a fist. Why do we have to live in the dark, amonst the death, decay, and waste. He felt Leo pat his arm. The jealousy left him. He almost swore he could feel pain in his robotic arm from clenching it to tight.
"I know, I know. It's just the way of things." Leo said. They drove the rest of the way to the stadium in silence. |
His eyes roved around the surroundings. "One of these days I will be able to live here and maybe grow a family. Well that's if I can find a girl." Chuckles as he thinks to himself. "So Spark, you ready to be eating my dust?"
OOC: Grow a family?
"...its an interesting phenomenon actually," Shock was saying to no one in particular, "you see, on topside they have government hired guards, who patrol the city streets prevent people from stealing and killing. They also seek down mutants and throw them downside. But for common criminals, they simply throw them in a cell, then 'rehabilitate' them, and give them 'shock-bug' therapy, which is designed to either make them upstanding citizens or kill them. basically, it delivers a small electric shock whenever they think criminal thoughts. Its supposed to be effective. That's why the top-siders are so damned naieve when they come downside..."
OOC Yes leave me alone I stand by my thought pattern. *huddles in corner* Oh yes they will grow...
ooc: You do realize I'm in a different car. so your talking to yourself now.
OOC: I tend to do that a lot any way note to self read posts more carefully.
Soup had also known from talking with Uncle Leo at the garage that he'd need a pair of sunglasses. After putting his on in the elevator, he followed Elektra, not speaking. The above ground world stunned him. He had never seen it before and was a little afraid. I hope the races start soon. Then I'll have something to focus on. I wanna go home.
The service gate at the stadium was attended by two gaurds. The gaurds were Metropolice from the Mcdonald-Phoenix division.
"Where do you think your going mutant." One of the guards said. "We're Scott Oli's race team." The Gaurd checked his PDA. "Continue to the first fork and take a right you'll see your stall on the right." The gaurd said in a matter of fact tone. |
Soup followed closely behind everyone. He didn't like the distrusting look the guards had. Are mutants and surface dwellers really that different? Well, besides the fact that they're all rich and snobby and we're all poor? He shook his head and continued walking.
Vince crept in with the rest of the group. He wasn't sure if he would've been able to get in otherwise and didn't want to take a chance on it. I used to live up here. Now they look at me like I'm some sort of pond scum. What the hell are they playing at?
Still not used that sun thing... Chris rubbed his eyes. He had almost gotten lost from the group a couple of times because he couldn't open his eyes that much.
Chris didn't like being called a 'mutant'. It was discrimination, and all people deserve equal rights. He didn't like the fact that rich people lived above ground and poor below. |
The other teams were arriving. The norms had crews of support personel, and masses of equipment; The best money could buy. Spark pushed the hover sled with his bike out the back of the delivery truck. The Bike was a Phoenix made Mercury, but it was onlly a Mercury in chassis. Spark had custom retrofitted most of the bike, tweaking it along his specifications. When he rode it, he felt like he was part of it. He could feel every shift of the gears, every pulse of propulsion like he could feel a muscle flex in his legs. The bike was his pride and joy. It was a beautiful machine to behold. He ran his cyborg arm over the control grips. He looked up to see Requiem pull in.
"What took you so long? Getting ready to eat my ion trail as usual?" |
Shock lingered back for a second <all that machinery. God, with my luck..> he smiled sadistically, then wandered off near the top-side bikers to "distribute business cards"
A normal mechanic came over and started to mess with Spark's Bike.
"Hey what do you think your doing!?!" Spark Yelled at him. "Back off freak. I'm just putting in your I.D. Tag." The mechanic said smuggly. He had two tall and muscular men beside him wearing business suits in the Phoenix fashion. "I don't want strangers messing with my bike." Spark said moving on the man. "Well then, don't worry your little pea brain about it, I'm done." The mechanic moved away from the bike and moved over to Elektra's bike. |
Shock ventured a little closer to his friend. "Those guys giving you trouble? I can take 'em if they don't have guns. No problem."
Elektra watched the guy like a hawk. Any slight movement near her equipment and she'd snap him in two. Besides, Chud was irght behind her, and even the bodyguards were like children to him. Once the mechanic was done and had shot her a glare, she moved her bike over to the stall and leaned next to it. She was checking out the other contestant's bikes. Not bad, not bad... Just then, a group of norms with about the sleekest bikes she'd ever seen walked by. When they had passed she walked up to Spark. "Did you see those bikes? Someone shelled out a lot of cash for those. I wonder if the riders can even control them..."
