Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:03 PM

Don't you all realize that we cannot test this since there is no pirate class?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:03 PM

What about the Complete Adventurer's Dread Pirate prestige class?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:04 PM

Isn't that a prestige class and not a base class like the other two though?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:04 PM

Didn't we move on to monks?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:04 PM

Consider this: Other than history, when was the last time you saw a real ninja or a real pirate? Isn't it possible they were equals and both died in the clash, and thus neither is better than the other because both are dead?

Edit: Gah, we're expert ninjas

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:04 PM

EDIT : Double ninja'd.

Do video games count?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:05 PM

Wasn't that more of a D&D reference than an epiphany?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:05 PM

Can't we all agree on one fact that due to the current rules in play monks and their grappling are superior to ninjas and their sudden strikes?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:05 PM

Have I pointed out that monks are the best because they still exist?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:06 PM

Why do you disbelieve the fact that there are people on the sea who raid ships for money?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:06 PM

Isn't that part of a fairy tale?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:07 PM

Though did you know they are not pirates in the literal sense that they don't pillage villages?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:07 PM

EDIT : Ninja'd again

Does anyone really care about land pirates compared to the reputation of pirates of the sea?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:08 PM

Did a fairy tell you such a tale?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:08 PM

What are we to now question what's right, isn't that what Wikipedia is for?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:09 PM

Do you seriously think Wikipedia is infallible?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:10 PM

If you were to splash water on Wikipedia and it were to melt, does that imply its a Witch?

bluestarultor 09-13-2007 02:10 PM

In terms of determining which is better, couldn't one simply assume a gambler-class character like Setzer qualifies as a pirate, then compare said character to any number of FF ninja?

(Edit: HOW DO YOU GUYS TYPE SO FAST!? :gonk: )

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:11 PM

Couldn't we also say that Faris would be a good benchmark of piracy?

bluestarultor 09-13-2007 02:12 PM

But doesn't she assume many different classes, possibly including that of a ninja?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:12 PM

Didn't we just establish that ninja was a poor choice for power by the rules?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:13 PM

Since when did we start going by RPG classes for our resources?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:13 PM

EDIT : Ninja'd

What do you suggest we start using to make these decisions then, if not random RPG classes?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:13 PM

Is a surprise strike truly a surprise in a setting where you announce your attacks in advance?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:13 PM

Why would you have to announce the attacks in advance?

bluestarultor 09-13-2007 02:14 PM

@ RMB: Wasn't that what this was all about?

Edit: @ Moogle: Isn't that in The Rules?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:14 PM

Does that really matter if you still get the bonus damage and other advantages?

EDIT : Triple ninja'd. That's the worst one so far.

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:15 PM

Isn't announcing a sudden strike to the DM still to be considered a surprise within the game itself?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:16 PM

Wouldn't it be more surprising to the DM if you just started rolling extra dice and then explain when he asked what the hell you were doing?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:17 PM

Isn't that taking the ability a bit too seriously out of game and thus defeat the purpose of the game having rules?

bluestarultor 09-13-2007 02:17 PM

Wouldn't it be great if NPF had a dice feature for posts like Gaia's?

(Actually, I'd go for it. Up to 20 dice at a time, in flavors of d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, and d100.)

Demetrius 09-13-2007 02:19 PM

Isn't that what metagaming is for?

EDIT: Ninja's abound today!

Who else is in favor of ostracizing Blues for that last suggestion?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:19 PM

EDIT : Ninja'd again. AGAIN.

Isn't the purpose of metagaming to find various loopholes in the rules so you can exploit ideas the writers thought were too obviously stupid to use?

bluestarultor 09-13-2007 02:20 PM

By "metagaming," you mean...?

Would it help if I asserted that die rolls cannot be changed?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:20 PM

Wouldn't he mean something along the lines of godmoding?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:21 PM

Why are there two names for the same thing?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:22 PM

Who else thinks that with Tendronai's constant being ninja'd proves the superiority between pirates and ninjas?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:23 PM

Doesn't the fact that I keep returning show the resilience of pirates and demonstrate how they must indeed prove victorious?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:24 PM

Who else thinks we would benefit from not talking about something thats been argued since the dawn of time?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:25 PM

Are you suggesting a change of subject, then?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:26 PM

What else do you think it would mean?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 02:27 PM

Should we take a vote on what the next subject matter will be?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:27 PM

EDIT : Ninja'd.

Since when did we use democracy for anythin around here?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:28 PM

Would anyone be willing to talk about how ridiculous it would be if we could literally travel into the internet?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:30 PM

Do you mean like in ReBoot?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:31 PM

But since we're users, how is that anything like ReBoot?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:33 PM

Didn't you know I meant in the sense that we jump in big ships and travail the seas of the Internet, perhaps plundering a few .org's for much-needed booty?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:35 PM

Were we to be injured, would we return to our bodies with the same inflicted harm ala Friday the 13th? If so, would this tempt you to meet someone in this discussion?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:36 PM

Are you implying that I'd follow the same path as Freddy Kreuger?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:36 PM

Why did you dodge the question? Guilty conscience?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:37 PM

Would anyone be stunned if I was referring more to Futurama?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:38 PM

Would you like me to admit right out that I would, in fact, brutally murder whoever I ran into over the Internet just for some cheap thrills and justify it to myself as 'revenge'?

EDIT : I thought we were done with the ninja'ing! Come on!

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:39 PM

Although a Futurama type internet would be fun, isn't it difficult to multi-task when you're 'physically' there?

And why does it need to be revenge?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:41 PM

In a sense yes but you would be physically doing things so wouldn't it better you were all in one place?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:41 PM

EDIT : I think we've proved this game doesn't work if there's more than two people.

But don't you need to be seperate from it just in case something goes wrong?

Red Mage Black 09-13-2007 02:46 PM

What about a system that ejected your mind in case such a thing happened?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 02:47 PM

OUT OF YOUR SKULL?! Isn't that a bit extreme for Freddy?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 02:48 PM

Didn't you know "Extreme" is his middle name?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:04 PM

Isn't Freddy from the Nightmare on Elm Street series and not Friday the 13th?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:07 PM

There's a difference between the two?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:11 PM

Are you implying that there is no difference between a burn victim killer who kills you via turning your dreams into nightmares versus a hockey masked killer who wanders around Camp Crystal Lake chopping camp counselors up into pieces?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:13 PM

Can I convince you that there really isn't a difference because in the end their victims are dead?

Pink Bunny 09-13-2007 03:16 PM

Isn't it amusing that a Burn Victim and a Drowning Victim are ultimately considered the Horror Movie rivals?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:18 PM

Indeed, it is - shouldn't there have been someone with a unique type of death to get in that bracket?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:19 PM

Are you suggesting that you can create a more memorable horror movie?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:19 PM

How hard could it be?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:20 PM

Tell me then, what is your idea of a better horror movie based off of that?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:21 PM

If I told you, would you try to steal it for yourself?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:22 PM

Didn't you copyright it yet?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:23 PM

How can I when I spend all my time here playing this game?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:24 PM

With that knowledge, would I be considered evil if I DID want to steal the idea for my own since it is not copyrighted?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:25 PM

Would you rather discuss morality next, or how you would steal the idea given that I haven't actually told you anything about the movie?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:26 PM

What topic is more pleasing to you?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:28 PM

But I wanted to let you decide - why are you rejecting my generous offer of letting you pick the topic?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:29 PM

Could it be because I really am evil?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:30 PM

So, is that a vote for the morality discussion, then?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:30 PM

I can't argue with that now can I?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:32 PM

Couldn't you follow my fine example and argue a point just for spite, even as you know that your point isn't really worth defending?

Moogle0119 09-13-2007 03:35 PM

Is there really much point arguing over the fact that the next discussion really should be about morality and perhaps even whether or not I am considered to be evil?

Tendronai 09-13-2007 03:36 PM

Isn't the fact that I'm about to argue against it show that there is indeed a point?
