Wii-Ware supports private developers
So as some of you may or may not have read, nintendo has announced plans to release Wii-Ware to people. Basically, this means that private game developers can design, create, and release games for purchase and download through through the Wii's Virtual console.
Specifics are sketchy at the moment, but this can give alot of developers a chance to release game ideas they've had. http://www.developmag.com/news/27792...nfirms-WiiWare One of many sites that discusses it. Enjoy kids! |
This is something the Playstation 3 touted for a while, being able to engineer your own things into games and release them to the public.
Interesting that Nintendo' doing it too. |
That sounds cool. I'll definitely do that when I get a wii.
|
afaik, Xbox Live Arcade offers the same service. so, this isn't all that surprizing, but still pretty awsome.

Really?
Does XBL or Ps3 allow you to publish the games for others to play? Cause if so than that's actually reason for me to want to buy them... FF XII: Tyrazial Edition. |
i'll have to double check, but yeah, the XLA lets you sell your games on the Marketplace (for, like, five dollars), and requires a ~$50 a month subscription. its actualy a very cool thing that Microsoft put together.
i've actualy been working on a tabletop game in my spare time, and have talked to some friends about putting together a computerized version of it for XLA. so i'm excited to hear that i could possibly do this for the Wii, too. |
Cool. Wow. *ponders* I wonder if I still have those sketch sheets and sprite data sheets stuff away... I should totally pull out Legend of the Stars...
|
Hmmm, how exactly would the publishing work? Over the WiiConnect, or what?
Still, awesomeness. Can't wait to see how it works. |
im still waiting for the MMORPG that lets you make quests and dungeons for other players to play (needing they to find you to ask for the quest to download it and play it)
I mean.. C'MON Square / Nintendo... what the hell... |
