Why Perfume Comercials Dont Make Sense?

Seriosly..... what the hell are they thinking?

and now, a thread so you can talk about your favourite perfume comercials and also about the most WTF ones...

...but... really.... they dont make any fucking sense!!!!!

They have commercials for perfume now?

Nonono, there have always been perfume commercials.

You were probably just confused because they don't reveal their perfume-i-ness till the end.

But yes, every single commercial I have ever seen has stopped me to just stare and say "WTF does that have to do with perfume?"

Tendronai 06-28-2007 12:12 PM

Shouldn't this go in the TV forum?

But I thought the point of commercials was to stand out in your mind so you would remember the product. By being so odd, they get remembered compared to all the other crap you saw.

Most perfume commercials I see I can actually make sense of them.

Basically:

Male perfume:
Get's you laid.

Girl perfume:
Make's life bright and happy, and/or get's you laid.

But that's just my interpretation, to each his own I suppose.

The reason they don't make any sense is because they cannot possibly convey the idea of a smell to the average person. Sure, about 1% of the genpop is gonna be able to understand something like "fruity on the surface with deep hints of oak," but then again, those people most likely already have the perfume they want.

What I want to know is why no perfume has a convinient delivery system.
Sure, the bottles are real fancy, but there'll always be some perfume left in the bottom due to the simplistic design of a spray and a tiny hose.
You'd think there would be a better way to make sprays.

I would be happy if i just could understand why they Whisper ALL THE TIME

Because whispering is intense and sexy...

I don't see quite why they market perfume on TV, people just walk around the stores and spray all of the test bottles on their wrists/various body parts until they find what they want anyway (or until they run out of body parts to spray it on)

Idiots and gifts. None of the perfume or cologne avertised on TV is ever worth wearing, so they have to sell it on "other" merits.
