What is Jareth anyway exactly? He seems like a mix of mage and psionic... Mainly because of his wind spells, then his dimension walking...

Krylo 02-26-2004 12:42 AM

Teleport spell, actually... not dimension walking. It's one of the spells that would be in the complete list if I had bothered finishing the spell list before posting it here.

He just uses the spell so damn much, he's able to do it instantaneously.

IHateMakingNames 02-26-2004 12:44 AM

And you were worried about my guy being to powerful...

Krylo 02-26-2004 12:46 AM

Yah... but only because your guy's powers are offensive. Jareth's are mostly parlor tricks or defensive.

Hmm, I noticed something. For the entry for Faeries, it says, "Poison Spread Rate: Above Average". Does this mean if poisoned, they are effected faster then normal, or slower then normal? I realized with a lack of iron gear, my guys main weapon, magic, is halved agianst faeries. He might pick up an iron warhammer later to replace the silver one, although he would keep the silver armor, but if he was able to cast some sort of poison, would it be effetive against Faeries?

Krylo 02-26-2004 12:48 AM

Only slightly more so. Above average isn't huge...

Poison spreads a bit more quickly because they have to have a faster metabolism to make energy for their wings... which means a higher heart rate... which means blood flows faster, thus poison spreads faster.

IHateMakingNames 02-26-2004 12:49 AM

Well, you could easily switch around parlor tricks and defense abilities to be offensive...

And I just had an intresting idea... If my guy used fate link with a faerie, then put iron up against his arm, would the faerie's arm begin to burn?

(My guy has a iron short sword by the way, since FZ brought it up)

Edit - Why aren't vampires added to the races?

Forever Zero 02-26-2004 12:51 AM

Because any race can be a vampire, so it isn't it's own race. It's more of a status effect then a race, so at best vampirism would get a notation for rules and abilites of a vampire.

I can see it now.....

Neph: Learn your place Naga.
J: Tell me what do you know about Hooke's Law? [He begins to play with the very tip of his tail tightly coiling it.]
Neph: What!?
J: Hooke was a naga scientist that worked with a studying objects under tension. All of this was before the humans destryoyed our civilization, but we still have kept our records intact.
Neph: What does this have to do with anything?
J: Well ol' Hooke worked mostly with springs which are of great interst to nagas for obvious reasons.... Trajectory... Check. Pressure.... check *Sproing*
Neph: OWWW!!! MY EYES!!! YOU BLINDED MY EYES!!!
[Jormungand sends a ripple down his spine cracking his vertebrae loudly and then crosses his arms and shakes his head.]

Krylo 02-26-2004 12:54 AM

Plus, I'm lazy... and don't want to edit the race files anymore.

And... no. If you got burned, they'd get burned... and vice versa. Basically it just makes both people in the link get injured by the same amount.

Mostly it'd just be good for something like if you were in Jareth's situation. In prison... right, so you stick a fate link on someone, demonstrate that you are indeed linked... stick that person in the cell, and leave. They couldn't hurt you because if they did they'd hurt the person in the cell as well.

Sort of... but the reason Jareth is so adept at running away, and not hurting people is because he doesn't like to hurt people. Also, it's pretty hard to use gust of wind as more than a distraction, wind shields aren't going to hurt anyone, and neither are magic shields. His teleport mastery and skill with a blade could be used to kill pretty easily... but he only uses that when he's very pissed off.

This is the reason that a Jareth pissed off enough to murder is very scary...

It's only about equal to what others can do though.

I mean, sure Jareth can teleport to someone and stab them... but you can take over someone's mind and have them stab themselves... transform into a bear... psychic blast someone into submission, make someone start seeing delusions, etc. And you're a vampire that can walk around in the daylight. Had you chosen, you could have tossed that black smith around with one hand instead of dominating him.
