Doesn't it annoy you sometimes when games have you input codes (such as this one, in the thread's name, from Grandia) from memory? Although yes, you COULD write it down, but I see that as an extra step that could be avoided.

Seeing as the vast bulk of such codes are for cheats, it really shouldn't be easy. When it's just a gameplay element, then yeah it's not one of my favourites, largely due to my shoddy short term memory. The worst of all is the Grandmaster Blockhead from Okami. 14 input, visual code that changes each time and you have 2 seconds to memorize the pattern. That was a bitch.

Or how about that nasty 30 second input for Final Fantasy VII's safe in the ShinRa mansion? That was a pain in the butt too.

I used to resort to using my little brother's photographic memory, it was wayyy better than trying to remember the things myself.

That one really never bothered me. I know I've done it, but I have no particular memory of doing it, indicating no problems. The one from Okami I mentioned had me swearing and growling death threats at my PS2. Only part of the game with any challenge in it at all, and it had too damn much. Oh and your little brother has a photographic memory Demetrius? That's interesting *readies scalpel and anaesthetic*

Maybe they should just design all codes like the infamous DULLARD code? That's the only cheat that nobody can ever forget.

Never heard of it myself though.

I just helped my sister do the GM Blockhead - we used her digital camera to record the code (had to try it several times to get a clear image).

The only code I know from memory right now. It was really easy. A lot of them are patterns like this one, so I don't see too many problems.
