Devil May Cry PNP interest thread

Hi everyone. I just thought i'd put up an interest post here for an online Devil may cry pnp i'm working out right now. this will not be forum based, but use an actual program that allows people to join into a program that allows for text communication, dice rolling, and a "map" of the location that you are in. as far as voice goes, ventrillo is a possibility, but not nessecarily going to be used.

to play you'll need to Download and extract the java based the Gametable 1.2 Beta from the Galactanet site. Sure, the site's mostly famous for their Casey and Andy webcomic, but they made a pretty kick-ass game utility too. In fact, you can use Gametable to host, join and play P&P-type RPG's over the internet. It's all text and graphics, but you can add Ventrilo or somesuch for voice chat. It's great. :)

I'm using the Street fighter the Storytelling game system (with some modifications) for the actual running of it, and i'm working on how to use gametable (the java program) for the actual running of it.

the reasons i'm using the Streetfighter system (with some modifications) is to allow for the different combat manuvers that characters can learn, as well as it will allow for a not-too-complicated magic system for the game.

again this is the interest thread. post if your interested and what archetype you want the character to be. (like melee specialist, range targeting guy, magi, ect) and we can go from there, all told i'm looking for about 5-6 people for this.

Wow, you could have just asked if I wanted fellatio and summed it up into less words. I'm a huge Devil May Cry fan and I'm all into this. I'm not very available for RPGs these days but let me know what's going on in the engine. I'll happily assist.

I'm a huge DMC fan, and that sounds really cool. Sorry though; I'm not one of the players you're looking for.

well, as far as the game itself goes, gametable is more of a tool to use to play PnP games over the net, not a computer RPG program. basically it's described as a gaming table, like you and your rpg friends sit around to play a regular game, it's actually pretty interesting

I might consider it, it depends on the timing though, my schedule gets pretty packed.

Also, the actual sign-up should be in heir roleplaying sign-ups forum. But nothing wrong with recruiting members here.

I'll consider it as well.

Once I got some more info on the system and the play schedule I could give a definite yes or no. I'm content with waiting, so no rush for that info.

I checked out gametable a little, toyed around a litte getting the basics.

What's a PNP?
Nevermind. Pen and Paper.

as far as timeframe, i'm usually free most evenings my time. i'm thinking i'd try for a particular night of the week (TBD)

A DMC PnP? You're the second person that has read my mind today. Anyway, I'd have to check the system and get all the info first, but I'm pretty sure I'll be playing, if my schedule allows for it.

If I do play, I'd like my character to be either a melee specialist (Think DnD fighter) or a melee class with some magical power (Kinda like DnD paladin or duskblade)

ok, that's easily done in the streetfighter system, you spend points to buy manuvers (like fireball, different punches, kicks, blade, gun ect attacks)

outside of the combat parts, it's just like the rest of the white wolf games (vampire, mage, werewolf ect) the only real difference is the tactical combat (it's actually one of the first pnp games where combat is run using miniatures and a map of the area as an integral part of the game)

i'll have more to post later

and it's later....

the way that character creation goes, is pretty simple, and those of you who have played mage and werewolf before know how it goes.

you have 9 attributes (three physical, three social, and threee mental) as follows:

Physical
Strength
Stamina
Dexterity

Social
Charisma
Appearance
Manipulation

Mental
Wits
Intelligence
Perception

now in true white wolf fashion, you have a choice in how to spend your attribute points, you have to designate which points you want to put with which category

your attribute points are as follows 7, 5, 3, what that means is you need to pick one category to spend seven points in, one for 5, and one for three.

now I know that most of you would plan to put your highest number of points in the physical and leave the rest to rot, but you need to know something about magical attacks, you use your mental attributes to power those, not your physical.so if you're looking to be a wizard or mage type, or even if you're looking to do a Dante and have a mixture of the two, your brains are a good bet to go with.

as far as social goes, well... when you're negotiating, parting, picking up chicks, ect it's good to have something in this attribute (plus some of the social attributes are useful in combat as well, like manipulating your opponant, dazzling him/her with your good looks, or leading your team to glory.

more to come sooner!
