Dual interest thread! Parrallel universes?
 

Alright, here's a thought I'm having right now:

Running an RP where one thread makes their own original characters from a setting of my choosing, and then another thread makes characters based off of those characters from a parallel universe that is also of my choosing. Character assignment for this second group would be by choice or random, depending on the person's individual choice.

People may be forced out of one world and into the other at certain occasions.

If enough people show interest I may have to make primary and secondary character slots randomized. (Meaning once all the slots are filled, I would randomly split you into two groups: One making the primary characters and one making said character's parallel counterparts.)

While I'm at it, here is a list of possible randomized world themes:

Steampunk: Bazooka shootin' train robbers!

Medieval Magic: Claymores and fireballs.

Spaghetti Western: Showdowns at High Noon.

Techno Horror: Can you say "20 foot tall cyborg Frankenstein"?

Gladiator: This is Sparta!!!1!11

Space-age: Laser pistols n' shit

Alien Barbarians: Fire dem splodin' rocks outta your six legged rhinoceros!

Cajun Planet: Now da voo-doo is ever'where!

Demonic Western: Those had better be silver bullets dipped in holy water.

Martial Arts: Not cinematic, think more Enter the Dragon.

Science gone Crazy: Need an extra cybernetic arm? No prob. That'll be 20000 creds...

Post-Apocalypse: Man, I gotta get better sunscreen...

Physics broken space: Now, yes, you can have your lightsaber...

Eerily normal earth: Ever seen a spirit? Me neither...

Earth iz reptiles: Meteors? We don't need no stinkin' meteors.

Celtic Legend: Those fair folk are makin' it rain fire on the Brits again. Serves 'em right.

Alternate Earth: King Michael the Third ain't lookin' too bad this evenin', guv.

High Fantasy: Kill the giant mushroom monster! Reward: 1800 gold pieces.

Japan builds Mecha: You knew it would happen eventually.

Outbreak Earth: I knew those robots were evil.

Modern Monster Hunters: I wish Simon Belmont had been a tad more successful.

Samurai Era Japan: Mmm. Sake-licious.

Medieval India: Camels, scimitars and Djinni.

Egyptian Conquest: One of the major differences between Hitler and Tutankhamen; Tut did it.

Interplanetary Collision: Well, hey. That's... a... uh... interesting... head... you have there.

Indiana Youses: Snakes are the least of your worries.

Aztec: Hope you're not squeamish.

Crazy old Guy in the Basement: And no ammount of booze will make him go away! Or stop talking about "Flux capacitors"!

Modern Magic: Use uranium? For bombs? Are you nuts? I'd much rather use it to summon giant elementals.

Alchemy Fantasy: The first person who tries to resurrect someone will be the first to die.

Crows talking on a Fencepost: That damn scarecrow's still staring at us, after all this time.



Before they start to get worse, I'll stop. Plus, here's a list of unlockables:

Anime Powers: Everyone gets to be special.

We broke it: Wow, so that's all that you had to do to reverse death.

Fuck you, d20: Everyone gets one free escape from harm.

Obligatory Explosion: I hope you time that jump right.

Some Guy with a Chainsaw: Definitely not a beneficial unlockable.

Forced Entry: I don't care if it is re-enforced with force fields, I'm comin' in!

Stormtrooper helmets: That's what makes 'em miss.

Barf!: Make with the bouncing moneys already.

Shiny new weapon: It's so genocidically pretty.

1-Up: Tastes like green.


Unlockables will be... well... unlocked if players meet certain stipulations. Some, I will make before the game begins, or before the sign-up sheet is even posted. Others will be made because of certain things that you do in the RP. And yes, they will be things I would expect someone to have some chance of doing. So, don't hit every third person you see on the head, steal rampantly from that mad scientist next door, or refuse to eat raw tomatoes. Unless you're roleplaying your character. In which case I'm not sure why I allowed him, go make another.
But not eating raw tomatoes will net you a 1-up.
Other unlockables will be completely secret. Like for example, if you- oops, I'm not supposed to say anything about that.

So, show me them hands!

I'm in, and I want to be a parallel universe version if possible. I gots the skillz dose anyone else gots the ills. Or something to that effect. I'm white cut me some slack.

I’d even be one of the non-alternate types, or alternate, whichever.

I would do the alternate one just for the character creation.

Also steam-punk, demonic-western, alchemy fantasy or a combination therein sounds good.

Hmmm, colour me interested. Some of those universe ideas sound pretty interesting, especially since quite a lot of them haven't been done to death around here.

I'm interested, but confused aswell.

Say we have six people with characters in one thread, will they have six characters in the paralell thread aswell? Or are the paralell characters run by other people?

I express interest, though I'm not sure how much time I still have on my hands. If the signup thread comes along, you can put me in whatever alternate/not alternate universe role that's left over :D
