Bob and george is ending!!!

The first sprite comic, the one that spawned this one, is in its final month!

But, do not dispair, because Dave is planning on many other projects, including Cataclysm movies, and theres always the subcomics, and fancomics.

Discuss how you feel about Bob and george ending, and how much you hate Dave right now!

Honestly it's about time, too. B&G used to have at least moderately good ideas, some good jokes and a story that fit together surprisingly well; unfortunately it did so only in retrospect and was a huge mess any other way, and there was way too much time travelling, alternate versions of characters and WWE-style heel turns. The only really good parts were always the game parodies, and once Anez tried to make those more character-driven, it all fell apart. The characters in themselves just aren't that interesting, and overall it's been dragged out for too long.

I once tried reading through the archives of Bob and George. I thought the plot was all over the place and not a little convoluted and glutted with alterna-selves, and the characters were a bit flat and uninteresting for my taste. All in all, I kind of thought B&G was a bit of a mess, for all it had the odd good joke.

Bob and George wasn't terrible, but I have to echo what everyone else has said in that it was definitly a mess.

To be totally honest I enjoy that the comic is a ridiculous mess of continuity and time travel and alternate universes and ridiculousness.

I also like how it started out as a sprite comic about Mega Man inexplicably named Bob and George and then basically became a comic about Bob and George that tangentally features Mega Man.

Although I do wish he'd make it more about Mega Man.

Every comic needs more Mega Man.

Sad to see it go, but honestly it's running out of steam.

Honestly, it's been running on leftover gas fumes for at least a year now, I think.

I remember reading it years ago when the internet was only a fraction of what it was now. I skipped most of it and went right to the areas where Megaman was fighting through his games. Kind of funny, but mostly boring. It makes me wonder went 8-bit Theater's going to end... At some point everything has to end, right?

These days, I just go to B&G to read MS Paint Masterpieces, which is frickin AWESOME. There used to be some other really good comics hosted there too.

B&G itself hasn't been good in a long time. It used to be, but after that big crash where it was out for months, it just seemed to lose its soul. It's still good enough that I read it, but that's not saying a whole lot.

The ending itself is just..... yeah. No. It's not a bad idea, but the execution is cruddy, and the whole thing feels terribly rushed.

Frankly, I think part of the problem is that the author stopped really wanting to do it. That would be my guess.

I'll say this: I wouldn't have pictured it going out with a whimper like this.

I could agree with that, but knowing Anez's sense of humor i'd say that the current ending is a joke. I could see him doing that.
