A Deal With the Devil: Interest Thread

I was thinking, each chosen person is granted a wish from none other then Lucifer himself but at what cost? They're each given a set period of time to use this power before the devil takes their soul. Though what they're not told is that their wish intertwines them within someone elses.

Anyone interested? I can give more answers if people have questions.

sounds interesting, but what are the limitations on the wishes. Does it have to be something like money and influence or could we wish for regeneration or heat vision?

Basically, anything you desire. You can bring the dead back to life if you wished it to happen. It usually goes along with the deadly sins, like money and power for greed, women for lust, only eating your favorite food for gluttony, etc. For the purpose of the collection you have to sign a contract with your own blood.

The amount of time you have till you pay your due depends on the wish you made. Though it isn't the devil himself that comes to collect. Like all great people who had power, it could come as an untimely death or an accident.

I suppose powers could come under the categories of greed, lust, or envy.

Any others?

well would this be ok, ultimate knowledge (greed)

Red Mage Black 07-12-2007 07:06 PM

Basically you'd have knowledge of everything, the workings of the universe, how we came to be, and all historical happenings. Of course as everything, it also has shortcomings. Knowing what you do might drive you to insanity because there might be things you didn't want or need to know and some of them would be very disturbing.

It would be okay. Every wish has its own consequences. Remember, he's Lucifer not God.

hmm a character with infinite knowledge that has destroyed his mind, sounds like a fun RP to me

I'm a shrewd wisher, and given the oppurtunity I'd have a few questions.

Vague wishes only or can I be anal retentive about trying to make sure I don't get screwed?

And how many times can we say "and" or "or" in these wishes?

Red Mage Black 07-13-2007 06:30 AM

Well, when people wish for power it also comes with money because money equals power. Whether or not you try putting clauses in your wish, there is always a downside. I'll use the movie Bedazzled as an example. While not a great example it does show how wishes can turned against you.

You can make the wish as vague or as detailed as you like. Lucifer doesn't care because either way he gets your soul in the end.

good response, ok this would be my wish:

I wish that everone else thought I was as awesome as I thought I was.

When I see this thread I think of Ghost Rider.

Well my Wish would be this. "To have the power to shapeshift at any moment and have full control of it."
