Old Shows from Childhood

I'm reposting a thread I made on the old forums a couple of weeks ago, because there are a lot of new people here, and I'm curious as to what they'll say. Anway, here's the original starting post:

Well, this morning, I was bored, and unable to get to sleep (I work the midnight stocking shift at Walmart, so my bedtime is about 8 AM), so I decided to do a little search on some of the old shows I used to watch as a kid. I was reaquainted with two things:

1) Nickelodeon used to be a hell of a lot better than the Nicktoon fest it is now.
2) There were a lot of shows that I wish I could still watch.

The first one is one that everybody should be aquainted with. Inspector Gadget. Perhaps my favorite cartoon growing up (before I watched the old Batman: The Animated Series that aired on Fox). It was just awesomeness. I'm sure you're all aquainted with Inspector Gadget, and if you aren't, shame on you.

The next one is one I probably watched more than Inspector Gadget. You Can't Do That On Television. The show that gave Nickelodeon its most noteable treademark. My first contact with a sketch comedy show as well. I especially remember the firing squad skits.

Third. Count Duckula. I don't remember a whole lot about it, but I do remember thouroughly enjoying it.

Fourth. Mysterious Cities of Gold. Again, its been so long since I've actually seen it, but I do remember being really into it.

Anyway, share some of your fond TV memories from the days gone by, and rekindle memories of when stuff on TV was still somewhat original (or at least seemed that way).

So many good shows have left the stations for pieces of crap like Spongebob Squarepants. Well here's some that should come back.

1:Pirates of Dark Water
The heroes had to find these 13 jewels to destroy some sentient water...it's alot cooler than it sounds

2:Muppet Babies
I used to like it. It sucks now but I think little kids should watch it

3:The Super Mario Brothers Super Show!!!
Super Mario+Show=(if you need help then you really need help

I'll list more as I remember them

Ok here are my favorites (forgive me but I'm gonna mention ones that were said before)

1- You Can't do that on Television: Canadian sketch comedy goodness. Especially when someone said "I don't know" and got slimed.

2- Mario Bros- Omg! Captian N and Link!

3- Samurai Pizza Cats- My first exposure to Anime and I haven't looked back since.

4- She-Ra- So corny but awesome just the same

5- Ducktales- Was replaced by the much better Darkwing Duck.

6- Bucky O'Hare- Willy, Dead Eye, Blinky...so satisfying

Those are just a few. I was such a couch potato back then, especially after school.

Danger mouse and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles defined who I am today.

I used to watch She-Ra and all my friends thought I was weird because I was a boy watching the girl's show.

And they were watching the most subversive homo-erotic cartoon I've ever seen, He-Man. I sure got the last laugh. Ha ha.

I used to sneak out of bed at night to watch Nick-At-Nite. When it first started up they were running stuff like Alfred Hitchcock, Mary Tyler Moore, Green Acres, and some other stuff. I can't really say why I was so hooked on those shows when I was 10-12 years old, but nothing could keep me away from them.

Danger Mouse, Voltron, Go Bots, Transformers, GI Joe, all staples. I also grew up watching The Muppets although they were already in reruns by then.

Just recently I was trying to find some information on the old 1987 Wizard of Oz cartoon made by Cinar (I think.) I just started reading the books and damned I wanna see those cartoons again. Anyhow, I was addicted to the following:

Super Mario Bros. Super Show
That Brief Super Mario Bros. 3 Show
That Brief Super Mario World Show
Captain N
(Yes, I was obsessed with Nintendo in back in the day.)
Samurai Pizza Cats
Ninja Turtles
The Really Really Old Hercules Show
Inspector Gadget
The Care Bears,
All the Old Warner Bros. stuff,
Muppet Babbies,
And probably a lot of other great old crap that I forget now.
She-Ra

Inspector Gadget: Damn great show. If you like that, watch "Get Smart", a 60's tv show.
Danger Mouse: Also great.
Any Mario Show: They were all good, but Super Show and Mario 3 were better than Mario World.
Darkwing Duck: One of my personal favs. "Let's get dangerous!"
Ren and Stimpy: The originals, not the new ones. Also, only the first 2 seasons.
Pee-Wee: Only because of the sheer stupidity of the show. Funny 'cause he (of all people) got in trouble for "beatin' his meat." Also has Lawrence Fishbourne of Matrix fame.
Bill Nye: Made science cool.
Beakman's World: Clone o' Bill Nye, but still funny. Also made science cool.
You can't do that on television: I was young at the time, but I still remember it.
Salute Your Shorts: Staight-up reality of summer camp.
Carmen Sandiego: Before it turned to crap.

Oh man, the OLD Batman with Caesar Romero as the Joker
I rememb-animaer that Fridays were "Batgirl" episodes, oh and even at 5 I realized that Catwoman was HOT!

TMNT, Michelangelo is my hero.

Dinosaurs-animatronic zaniness on TGIF. Rock on.

Dino-Riders: don't remember much, but I have a lunchbox, so obviously it was dang coolness.

GI Joe

Transformers

The muppet Show-Jim Henson, you are missed.

Sesame Street

Mr. Rogers-such a cool, nice guy

And finally-Garfield & Friends

taekwondogirl 11-21-2003 03:19 AM

Pirates of Dark Water: Goooooood show! :D

Captain Planet: Very corny show, but I liked the message

TMNT: How could you not like it?

Ghostbusters: :D

Fraggle Rock: Absolutely wonderful. Down in Fraggle Rock!

I'm sure there's more. I don't really remember them right now.
